After a series of leaks last week, EA has officially debuted the launch trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons, a first person flight simulator that pits New Republic forces against remnants of the shattered Galactic Empire.

The Star Wars: Squadrons story takes place post Return of the Jedi and pits the New Republic’s Vanguard Squadron against the Imperial Remnant’s Titan Squadron. In the release trailer, there are many blink and you’ll miss them connections to the galaxy at large. Both Wedge Antilles and Hera Syndulla make appearances, as well as many ship variants including the TIE Striker and Starhawk-class battleship.

Star Wars: Squadrons Gameplay Details

Multiplayer will support a total of 10 players in the form of 5 v 5 space battles. As of now, the announced game modes are Fleet Battles, where each team sets out to destroy the opposing team’s flagship and Dogfights, where the goal is simply to destroy more fighters than your opponent.

Through game progression, players will have the ability to customize their pilots and star fighters, as well as upgrade weapon systems. Cosmetics will include engines, cockpit, shields, and ship exterior. Planetary maps confirmed for Squadrons include gas giant Yavin Prime and the shattered moon of Galitan.
