A new Superman was announced to debut in Superman: Son of Kal-El, which will take over the current monthly title this July.
In this new continuing monthly series, the new Man of Steel that will be protecting the Earth is Jonathan Kent. The new series is written by Tom Taylor (Nightwing, DCeased, Suicide Squad) along with art by John Timms (Young Justice, Harley Quinn).

In other titles, Clark Kent will continue his fight to liberate Warworld, via the front lines and with a new team of covert operatives. Whereas, Superman: Son of Kal-El will follow the son of Superman as he begins his next chapter.
A New Story For A New Superman
Jonathan Kent has already received a lot of experience from past events that allow him to be suited to wearing his father’s cape. This includes fighting evil with Robin (Damian Wayne), travelling with his Kryptonian grandfather across galaxies, and living in the future with the Legion of Super-Heroes, who were determined to train Jon for the day that his father could no longer be Superman. Legion’s history has a gap in knowledge that prevents Jon from knowing exactly when that will happen, however, the signs point to the event being close.
It will be interesting to see how the name of Superman will affect Jonathan and his choices. It’s clear that he has learnt much for his part experiences so hopefully he will live up to the name and the symbol that his father was.
Alongside Jonathan Kent’s new series, DC also exclusively revealed further changes and new stories coming up for the Superman family, including:
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow –
Issue No. 2 of this eight-issue limited series will be Arriving July 20. Created by Tom King (Batman, Batman/Catwoman, Mister Miracle) and artist Bilquis Evely (The Dreaming, Wonder Woman).
Action Comics No. 1033 –
Continuing the story of Superman on the front lines in his battle to free the prisoners of Warwold, which will be on sale Tuesday, July 27. By Writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Daniel Sampere.
Superman and the Authority –
This will feature the new team that will be led by Manchester Black and combine original members, Midnighter and Apollo, with new members, Enchantress and Natasha Irons. This team also includes new versions of Lightray and O.M.A.C. The comic will be a new four-issue limited series that also features Humanite’s newly formed team of villains. The first issue will be released July 20. The comic was written by multi-Eisner Award-winning Grant Morrison (Wonder Woman: Earth One, The Green Lantern), with the art created by fan-favorite, Mikel JanÃn (Batman, Future State: Superman: Worlds of War).
