Ryan Reynolds just dropped some deadly hints for those who stan the Merc with a Mouth.
Marvel Studios currently has a jam-packed release schedule over the next two years, which boasts nearly two dozen unique titles between now and 2023. Looking at how the team behind the MCU is always aiming for the future, there are already rumors and reports surrounding entries like Captain America 4, The Mutants, and much more.

On the more confirmed end of this spectrum is Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3, which has been the subject of discussion since the Fox/Disney merger became official in 2019. While no official release date has been announced yet, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has confirmed Deadpool 3 to be in the works with Reynolds returning as Wade Wilson and Bob’s Burgers writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin to pen the script.
Ryan Reynolds Suiting Up Once More
Fans are already itching to find out when the Merc with a Mouth will take his rightful place next to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, especially considering that his threequel is set to have an R-Rating as his first two movies from Fox did. With nothing in the MCU having a confirmed release date after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in May 2023, the wait for more info on Deadpool 3 is certainly bringing an expected bout of anxiety.
Thankfully, Ryan Reynolds himself is coming to the rescue with his own hopes for when he will don the red suit and katanas for his first MCU outing.
During the press rounds for his new movie Free Guy, Reynolds revealed to Collider that he feels there’s a 70% chance that Deadpool 3 will begin filming sometime in 2022. Expressing his praise for the writing team and the process to make the movie, Ryan Reynolds said the team is actively working to make the movie happen in the near future.
“The percentage chance? I don’t know. I couldn’t assign a percentage to that. I’d say it’s 50/50 maybe? We’re really actively developing it and getting it into pretty good shape. What the hell month is it? August? Oh next year? Probably pretty damn good. I’d say 70%.”
“It’s something that is just a daily process. Writing is kind of like that, you’ve gotta allot time to do it and walk away, and I’m working with the Molyneuxs on it, it’s been great. They’re incredibly talented and so, so smart. They so understand that world and know how to zig when everyone’s expecting a zag, so it’s been a lot of fun.”
While this still doesn’t give fans an exact sense of when Deadpool 3 will release, it’s an exciting development that indicates filming isn’t too far away for Ryan Reynolds’ pet project.
With so much coming before it, the threequel will have every opportunity to use the MCU’s established story to make for ongoing hilarity for the red-suited mutant to play off. Whether Deadpool shows up before this movie is still a mystery as well, but the simple fact that filming is aiming to begin as soon as 5 months from now is thrilling news.
Fans will be paying close attention to progress on Deadpool 3 over the coming months, especially with so many entries still releasing in 2021. Whenever more information on this new MCU addition comes, it will come as something great for a fandom dying to see Wade Wilson make his MCU debut with flair…amongst other “F” words.
