Jon Kasdan, one of the writers on Solo, has recently confirmed that as of right now there are no plans for any sequels or follow-ups to the most recent Star Wars Story standalone film.
Solo 2 hitting theatres has always been incredibly unlikely, but this didn’t stop fans from campaigning online with campaigns such as #MakeSolo2Happen on Twitter.
Fans also speculated that a potential Disney+ follow up could be possible with a spin-off focusing on Qi’ra and the members of Crimson Dawn or even spinoff starring Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian.
A fan on Twitter asked Kasdan about the possibility of a follow-up to Han’s origin and this is what he had to say:

The infamous Star Wars Story was definitely a troubled production, to say the least. The film was originally supposed to be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller however at some point during production Lucasfilm decided to part with the directors in favor of Ron Howard.
This was significant because according to Variety the film was already 90% of the way filmed before Lord and Miller got the boot. Howard was still able to get the film ready at it’s scheduled release date of May 10th, 2018.
Even with all of the production problems many fans enjoyed Solo: A Star Wars story as it gained somewhat of a cult following. However even though Solo was generally well received the film was a box office bomb, losing Disney $76.9 million dollars.
While I would love to see a follow up to Solo, I feel that now is simply just not the time. That being said, I do feel that it is completely possible for them to explore more of Han’s story in the future – or the story of his compatriots – when the schedule isn’t as packed as it is now with a potential Disney+ series.
