Honestly, it’s unclear how Luke Skywalker (if he’s indeed the orphan being named) would have figured into the Obi-Wan series. Luke was seemingly aware of the hobo-like “magician” in A New Hope, but it wasn’t stated that they had actually crossed paths even if his uncle and aunt were certainly familiar with Ben Kenobi. Presumably Luke’s relative young age or even a mindwipe could have been used as the narrative reasoning for the seeming lack of continuity, but this is something that we are eager to research and learn more about in the near future. Stay tuned.

The logline also alludes to classic tropes of the western, with small town farmers needing the assistance of a mysterious hero. This narrative callback to the western genre was used in multiple ways and to great effect on The Mandalorian.

This storyline also seemingly confirms an exclusive report that we published in early February confirming the presence of Star Wars Legend A’Sharad Hett in the Obi-Wan series. In that comic continuity, Hett was once a Jedi who went on to become a Tusken Raider warlord. Our source indicated at the time that Hett would be a significant antagonist in that storyline.

Now that we know where they have been in the development, it should open up the door to a world of speculation about where Joby Harold’s script will take the Obi-Wan show moving forward. Previously, Hossein Amini was in charge of scripting duties, but in recent months Harold has taken over those responsibilities and is tasked with forging ahead in a new direction for the show. The future is unclear for the Lucasfilm’s upcoming Obi-Wan series, but sometimes time allows for the best quality production, so we will be sure to bring you the latest.

What do you think of the original direction of the Obi-Wan show? Do you think that Lucasfilm could have kept their original storyline and made it feel different from The Mandalorian?
