Disney is continuing its new line of live-action versions of previously animated hits, with the next movie on the docket being the live-action version of Hercules.
As reported by Disney Insider, it looks like the demigod will be going the distance. Producers Jeffery Silver and Karen Gilchrist have been approached by Disney to work on this, as well as some big-name directors.
This movie is set to be in the theaters – unlike a few other live-actions remakes such as Lady and The Tramp, Lilo & Stitch and Robin Hood, which are being released on Disney Plus.

This will not be the first live adaptation of the Greek hero, as Hercules has seen several actors embody his muscular self. Among the highlights have been Steve Reeves, Lou Ferrigno, Kevin Sorbo, Kellan Lutz and most recently Dwayne Johnson.
The animated movie was released in 1997, meanwhile, and boasted such stars as Danny Devito, Tate Donovan, and James Woods as voices of the characters.
Hercules Set To Become Even More Powerful
This version will have include some of the classic hits such as “Go The Distance”, “Zero To Hero” and other songs – but it will also include new music as well. While Disney has producers ready, the studio is still looking for directors.
It looks like Jon Favreau, who was a key director in both The Jungle Book and The Lion King has been said to be a candidate for the job. Another potential director – or directors, in this case – is the duo of Joe and Anthony Russo, who have worked on mega hits such as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
No official decision has been made yet, but hopefully the news will be released sooner than later. The line of live-action releases of Disney classics has been quite the success, so we hope for the best again.
