Who is Cobb Vanth And What’s His Mysterious Connection To Boba Fett In The Mandalorian Season 2?

Who is Cobb Vanth? How might this little known Star Wars character fit into Boba Fett's story and the second season of The Mandalorian? Read to find out...
The Mandalorian Cobb Vanth

Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath trilogy introduced Star Wars fandom to Cobb Vanth, a lawman and leader of Tatooine’s Freetown settlement. Donned in Mandalorian armor, Vanth set out to bring a sense of morality to a lawless world. It now seems very probable that Vanth will be coming to The Mandalorian’s second season.

In recent weeks, it’s clear that season two of The Mandalorian is shaping up to be quite the event. Ahsoka Tano and Bo-Katan, each played by Rosario Dawson (Luke Cage) and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), will be making their live action debut.

Temuera Morrison is also onboard to play Boba Fett, after playing Jango Fett in the prequel trilogy. Combined with the cast of characters we got to know in season one, the crown jewel of Disney + has never looked more promising.

Is Timothy Olyphant playing Cobb Vanth?

Timothy Olyphant has made a career out of playing Western lawmen in the past

Timothy Olyphant is a charismatic character actor whose addition to the ensemble of The Mandalorian will only make the show stronger. He is probably best known for his roles of Sheriff Seth Bullock on HBO’s Deadwood, and its subsequent film continuation, as well as Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens on FX’s Justified. It would then be apropos to assume Olyphant would be playing a man of the law in a galaxy far, far away.

/Film has reported that Olyphant was seen shooting scenes donning the infamous Mandalorian armor of one Boba Fett. If Morrison is back as Fett, the bread crumbs then lead us to believe that Olyphant must be playing Cobb Vanth.
