When it comes to heroes such as Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man, the ongoing topic of the mask vs the man. For example, in the show Smallville, Clark Kent is the mask while being the Blur is his identity. The Batman seems to also be diving into that very topic.
While Batman has always been back and forth between determining if Bruce Wayne is the mask, and Batman is who truly is. Matt Reeves will be giving more details into the soul of Bruce Wayne and will depict what his Batman will be.

What Makes The Batman’s Version of Bruce Different
Reeves’ co-writer Matthew Tomlin spoke with Den Of Geek about his work on Netflix’s Project Power and brought up some details on how Robert Patterson’s Batman and Bruce Wayne will be different from other versions portrayed on the big screen such as Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck. He talks about how this will be a younger version of the character.
Here is what Tomlin had to say about his Co-writer:
“I think that Matt Reeves as a filmmaker if you look at any of his work, whether or not it’s Let Me In or Cloverfield or the Planet of the Apes movies, he’s always coming from a point of emotion, it’s never the big action thing,” Tomlin says. “It’s always, what is this character’s soul?”
“I think that really looking at Batman as somebody who has gone through this trauma, and then everything that he’s doing is then a reaction to that, rather than shy away from that, I think this film leans into that in some very fun and surprising ways,”
It looks like the movie will take fans into what makes Bruce Wayne and giving a more realistic view of the creation and birthing the caped crusader.

This quote also describes some more of what the movie may have in it based on some of Reeves’ previous work and how the action will be in the movie and what lies beyond the cape and the mask and the pain and the new soul that may have been made from the trauma of Bruce Wayne as a child.
Hopefully, The Batman will give us more into the psyche of Bruce Wayne.
The Batman is currently set to release in theaters on October 1st, 2021.
