Netflix recently unleashed an epic new teaser trailer for Pacific Rim: The Black, a continuation of the film series. Unlike the films (Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim: Uprising), this interpretation is an anime that promises more of the Jaeger action fans have come to expect.
Pacific Rim: The Black Announcement Trailer
While it’s only a teaser, we can see the world created by Guillermo Del Toro remains intact, and that this new series may veer closer to the serious tone established in the original film, as opposed to the lighter one of Uprising.

While far from the biggest juggernaut, the Pacific Rim franchise has grown a large and passionate fanbase worldwide that has kept it in the pop culture conversation since the original’s release in 2013. Changing direction from live-action to anime seems like a good call based on this teaser, as it could theoretically allow for larger-scale battles and greater character development down the line.
The animation here looks fine and the air of mystery around what our human characters may face is definitely attention-grabbing, but we’ll have to wait in anticipation until March 4, 2021 to see how the series plays out.
Pacific Rim: The Black Synopsis
“Long ago, humanity defeated the Kaiju. Now, they’re evacuating Australia. Join a pair of siblings and their battered, long-abandoned Jaegar as they battle across a continent of danger.”
Pacific Rim: The Black stomps its way onto Netflix March 4, 2021. What are your thoughts on the teaser? Have you seen the Pac Rim movies? Will you binge this series on day one? Let us know in the comments below and on our Twitter.
