The poster for Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is here, and it’s fabulous!

IGN revealed the poster earlier this, noting how the structure was similar to classic genre films like Star Wars. Certainly, the action sure to be present in the highly-anticipated sequel is nearly bursting out of the 2D collage. The poster features vibrant colors and includes all your favorites hedgehogs – not to mention human characters, of course!

We can see the furry characters Sonic, Tails and Knuckles coming together, while Dr. Robotnik lurks menacingly in the background. Tom and Maddie, the loving couple who have taken Sonic in (played by James Marsden and Tika Sumpter), look disturbed – as well they might with all the chaos around them. This poster has fans excited, wondering how the second film will be compared to the first one. Will it put the first movie to shame? We all hope it’s only gets better from here for Sonic the Hedgehog.

Sonic The Hedgehog’s Grand Return

Fans of the games will recall Sonic’s 16-bit past when gazing upon this new poster, and there are hints of the lore everywhere. Tail’s plane is present, as are Robotnik’s missiles, and even the Chaos Emerald. It’s almost a good thing that the first film didn’t get into Sega’s material very much at all, because now the sequels can deepen the lore rather struggle to find new plots. Fans are expecting to see more homages to the Sega Genesis days of Sonic The Hedgehog.

As an added bonus for fans, Sega recently announced they are planning a Knuckles-based live-action series for Paramount Plus. Based off the success of the first film and hype for the second, they’re greenlighting a threequel in advance too. No Sonic or Knuckles fan is going hungry today!

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 debuts in theaters on April 8th. With weeks still to go before the movie releases, you can expect to see more reveals like this over time. The poster features Sonic Stadium and the pillars in the background have detailing that is surprisingly similar to Labyrinth Zone.
