We’re sorry we’re hopping on the DC League of Super-Pets hype train so late.

Ok we know the last trailer came out a month ago, and we’re kind of late to the party. But in our defense… like time and stuff. Anyway, before we get into the trailers, DC League of Super-Pets is an upcoming animated CGI film about Krypto the Super-Dog and a ragtag group of newly superpowered animals who must join together to save the Justice League. The film stars Dwayne Johnson as Krypto and Kevin Hart as Ace. It’s obviously a family-friendly film, however, the chemistry and back and forth between Johnson and Hart will never not be funny regardless of MPAA rating or species.

While not exactly a trailer, we do get to see DC League of Super-Pets use their powers for the first time, minus Krypto (Dwayne Johnson) who lists his powers: heat vision, freeze breath, and solar paw punch. PB the potbellied pig (Vanessa Bayer) can shrink and enlarge her size. Merton the turtle (Natasha Lyonne) is super fast. Chip the Squirrel (Diego Luna) can shoot lightning from his front paws. Then lastly Ace the indestructible hound (Kevin Hart). It’s cute seeing super-powered animals learning how to control their powers, but also pretty funny as well. Plus Krypto calling out the need for a longer montage kind of solidifies how funny this film is going to be.

DC League of Super-Pets First Look at the Justice League

DC League of Super-Pets

Speaking of the Justice League, the first good look at how the league will look in DC League of Super-Pets has been made available thanks to some artbook that is on sale somewhere. Images from the artbook, or whatever it is, were reported by Comicbookmovie.com. It appears Chip teams up with Green Lantern, PB Wonder Woman, Merton with Flash, Ace with Batman, and some weird pink thing in the top left wearing a cape. Is that the villain? But what about Cyborg and Aquaman? Do they not get pets? Sadly the pictures don’t really answer any questions. Guess we’ll have to wait and see when the film releases.

Keanu Reeves is Batman! Something no one said they needed, but now no one can get enough of it. Reeves’s deep voice and unique cadence work perfectly as the Caped Crusader and really highlight the comedy of his lines. Try not to laugh after he says, “That better be a licensed toy. Or… I’ll. Freak… Out!” It’s impossible. The writers and directors found the perfect way to keep the edge of Batman but also lean into the more fun and silly jokes of the character by casting Keanu Reeves.

DC League of Super-Pets Production Shots

Lastly, just thought it would be nice to share some of the production stills Warner Bros. Pictures provided. The film is obviously going to be extremely cute, It will make children, and likely a lot of adults, want plushes, toys, and all kinds of collectibles. The shapes, the design, and all the trailers and videos point to a fun and very self-aware family movie that will border the genre and probably resemble a parody. And I can’t wait to watch it!

Being 6’ 4” and Asian, he never really fit in, so he got comfortable standing out. Not only is it easy to find him in crowds, he dabbles in the culinary arts, does a little stand up and improv, and can honestly say Spider-Man is the Jesus-like influence of his life. Kevin Fenix loves dogs, movies, television, comics, comedy, and to shoot people… with video.
