Is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 Actually Titled Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?

So not too long ago, in a galaxy not too far away, during an episode of GrubbSnax’s Twitch stream hosted by gaming insider Jeff Grubb, viewers of the stream were trying to guess the title of the upcoming game. Towards the end of the stream, at approximately the 1 hour and 32-minute mark, Grubb confirmed that a guess by a viewer going by the name of colonelsanders21 had been correct. That guess was none other than Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

If the title is in fact correct, one could only speculate what the game could be about. Fortunately, gamers and fans might not have to wait much longer for details to emerge. The sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is rumored to be officially announced during this year’s Star Wars Celebration event being held later this month in Anaheim, CA from May 26 through May 29.

Other bits of information that are said to be confirmed during the official Star Wars Jedi announcement are the release date, which is rumored to be early next year, and platform availability, which at the moment is rumored to be the current generation of consoles (Playstation 5 and Xbox Series family of systems) and PC.

The first game in the series, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, was originally released in November of 2019 for PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. Fallen Order is a third-person game where players take on the role of former padawan Cal Kestis. Set five years after the start of the Great Jedi Purge as shown in Revenge of the Sith, the game follows Cal as he runs from being hunted by the Second Sister and Ninth Sister, two of the Empire’s Inquisitors, and trained by Darth Vader. Along the way, he meets a former Jedi Knight and her crew as they seek to rebuild the Jedi Order.

The game has an average score of 80 across all platforms on Metacritic and, according to publisher Electronic Arts, had sold more than 8 million copies by the end of January 2020 and more than 10 million by the end of March that same year. The game features actor Cameron Monaghan (Shameless and Gotham) in the role of Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis. As the first game ended with Cal escaping from Vader, the upcoming game could deal with him surviving in a world where Vader knows there are still more Jedi left alive and continue to be hunted.

While I never finished the first game, the time period between the prequel and the original trilogies is the time period I find the most interesting, with Rogue One being one of my favorite Star Wars movies. There are so many stories that could be told here. There have got to be countless Jedi in hiding across the galaxy. Maybe as one of them, or even as Cal, you can travel the galaxy trying to help the less fortunate, whose lives are being ruined by the new Galactic Empire. My personal wish for the next game would be for them to bring back Galen Marek, also known as Darth Vader’s secret apprentice Starkiller in The Force Unleashed.
