Earlier this year, Electronic Arts (EA) and Lucasfilm games announced that the next installment of the Star Wars Jedi game series was in the works by Respawn Entertainment.
The story of Jedi Cal Kestis will continue, and now, the first teaser trailer has officially dropped for the newly titled Star Wars Jedi: Survivor during the Star Wars Celebration event.
The new title is developed by Respawn under the leadership of game director Stig Asmussen. It will expand on the world, stories, characters, and combat established in the previous game. It’s due out later next year. You can view the first teaser trailer for the upcoming game below:

The new teaser trailer appears to be an entirely CG cinematic with no actual gameplay footage. It appears to be narrated by a mysterious figure asking why Cal Kestis tries to lead when no one is willing to follow. The figure, who is a Pau’an, the same species as The Grand Inquisitor, but does not appear to be the Grand Inquisitor himself, asks, “Why fight when you can’t win? What is your next move, Jedi?” It also appears this sinister figure, who appears to be the villain, now has possession of Cal’s previous lightsaber from the last game.
The teaser also features images of Cal fighting a dark, cloaked figure who wields a red-bladed lightsaber. Cal and BD-1 also observed a pale, wounded figure with light hair who is recovering in a bacta tank.
Game director Stig Asmussen said about the upcoming game in a press release from EA, “Even before completing Jedi: Fallen Order, our team had a vision of how to carry the adventure for Cal, BD, and the crew into the sequel.” He continued, “For Jedi: Survivor, we are working in lockstep with Lucasfilm Games to build on the legacy of Jedi: Fallen Order.”

Kestis begins to feel the weight of being one of the last Jedi in the galaxy. Throughout the game, Kestis and BD-1 will meet and form alliances with an array of unique, interesting characters.
Additionally, EA and Respawn are promising the new title will expand on the first game’s dynamic combat in “new and innovative ways.” In the course of his journey, Cal Kestis will learn new skills to survive and deepen his connection with the force.
