Fans will have to wait a little longer than initially expected for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but there are still exciting reveals coming out for the game ahead of its imminent release. In an upcoming issue of Play Magazine (via Games Radar), game director Stig Asmussen spoke about more of the features that players can expect from the upcoming game, including both fast travel and rideable creatures.

STAR WARS JEDI: SURVIVOR WILL HAVE FAST TRAVEL & RIDEABLE MOUNTS

The earlier gameplay trailer released in December did feature a snippet of protagonist and player character Cal Kestis riding a two-legged creature, and it appeared to be gameplay footage, but there wasn’t much other than that. Now it’s confirmed the game will have rideable mounts.

According to Asmussen, fast travel will help players go from point A to B. Meanwhile, the mount creatures will give players a quick way to go between those points and further explore in between them. Asmussen stated, “We will feature both fast travel and rideable creatures to help players quickly get from point A to B, and back to A.” He continued, “the fast-travel is point to point, and the rideable creatures offer a way to quickly negotiate between points and explore what is in between.”

Based on Asmussen’s comments, it definitely appears that Respawn put the work in to expand the overall gameplay experience from the first game and offer an immersive Star Wars video game experience unlike any other. The first game in the series, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order did a great deal to improve the tarnished reputation of the Star Wars video game franchise after the poor reception of the Star Wars Battlefront games and the controversy surrounding them.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor - Cal Kestis and Cere Junda - Still 3

We will still have to wait until the game’s release to see the full extent of these new features. The gameplay footage hinted at more lightsaber customization options, including a lightsaber with a crossguard, along with being able to dual-wield two lightsabers at the same time.

The addition of fast travel and rideable somewhat suggests the game will have some pretty expansive sandboxes and game maps to explore. Hopefully, that means players will be able to enjoy some fun sidequests and visual storytelling as they explore different planets and villages. It will be interesting to see how expansive the game world or potential worlds turn out for the final release.

Hopefully, that extra time Respawn Entertainment took to add some additional polish to the game will be worth it. The release date was pushed back six weeks from March to April earlier this month.

The upcoming sequel picks up five years after the events of Fallen Order. Cal Kestis continues his crusade against the Empire, which has only grown more dangerous. The Dark Times are closing in on Cal and his allies, and new enemies are surrounding him. Cal must soon make a choice on how far he is willing to go in order to protect those closest to him.

The wait for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor won’t be much longer. The game finally hits the shelves on April 28. It will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and also Windows PC via the EA App, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It will be priced at $69.99.
