Teela is getting a new voice actress for Masters of the Universe: Revolution, the upcoming continuation of Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation. Mattel announced this week that Supergirl star Melissa Benoist will be the new voice of Teela, replacing Sarah Michelle Gellar from the first season.
Mattel announced the news on Wednesday in celebration of International Women’s Day. The new season is due out on Netflix later next year.
MELISSA BENOIST JOINS MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVOLUTION AS TEELA
Genre fans will best know Benoist as the titular superhero Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in the hit CW series, Supergirl. Benoist joins the show opposite Revolution’s all-star cast, including Chris Wood as He-Man/Prince Adam, Mark Hamill as Skeletor, and William Shatner in a yet-to-be-announced role.

This will be Benoist’s third collaboration with filmmaker Kevin Smith, who serves as showrunner for the series. Benoist previously appeared in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and Clerks III. This will also be her second time working with real-life husband Chris Wood, who previously appeared in Supergirl as Mon-El.
in a statement released by Mattel, Benoist said on the news, “I jumped at the opportunity to work alongside my friend, Kevin Smith and join the Revolution family as another bold and fearless heroine.” She added, “I look forward to sharing the next evolution of Teela’s story with fans.”
In Revolution, Teela and He-Man, and the rest of the Masters seek to save Eternia from the tangles of darkness. Revolution will feature an all-new story that focuses on the classic He-Man and Skeletor rivalry in a way that audiences have never seen before. In the new season, magic faces technology as He-Man and his allies face Skeletor and a deadly threat to the planet in the next battle for the fate of Eternia. The new series will pick up where Revelation left off.
Mattel Television Senior Vice President and General Manager Fred Souie added on today’s news, “On the heels of our 40th anniversary, He-Man is more prevalent in pop culture than ever before, which is why we’re especially excited to bring the force that is Melissa Benoist into the fold.” He continued, “Melissa already exemplifies every aspect of Teela’s formidable personality, and we know that she will continue to showcase the same heart as she did in Supergirl, providing audiences with a new iteration of a classic character synonymous with strength and heroism.”

Mattel did not offer any reason for Melissa Benoist replacing Sarah Michelle Gellar for the new season. However, the actress likely was not available due to her busy schedule. She’s currently starring in the new Paramount+ series Wolf Pack, but that is mere speculation.
The finale for the first season implied that Hordak and his deadly Horde will be the new threats for Revolution. So, He-Man, Teela, and the other Masters will have their hands full in Revolution.
Masters of the Universe: Revolution debuts later in 2024. The show wills stream exclusively on Netflix. The show is executive produced by Mattel’s Fred Soulie, Rob David, and Christopher Keenan, along with Ted Biaselli and Kevin Smith.
