One of the new Legendaries introduced in the DLC is Terapagos, a crystalline turtle that may have a connection with Paldea’s Terastal phenomenon. Its existence is hinted at within the game, as documented in the Area Zero journals and the Scarlet/Violet Book. Although portions of the text are redacted, the sketch of the unidentified legendary bears a striking resemblance to Terapagos.
Liko’s Pendant Comes Out of its Shell
For the anime side of the franchise, Pokémon Journeys: The Series concluded its run on March 24, 2023. Succeeding Ash Ketchum as protagonists are Liko and Roy, who star in the new series, Pokémon Horizons: The Series. The newly discovered Pokémon to be appearing in the Scarlet and Violet DLC is described to be small and weak. When under duress, however, it forms a defensive shield by crystallizing the energy within its body. As seen in the anime, it can enter a dormant state by withdrawing its head, limbs, and tail into its shell to resemble a gemstone. Although it shares a splendid aura with Terapagos, other details such as its name and true nature are murky at best.

Given that newer generations have been breaking old trends, there are several possibilities on what the mysterious new legendaries could be. The idea of Legendary and Mythical Pokémon has evolved significantly over the years, making them less static and more protean. Shaymin, Meloetta, and Hoopa have alternate forms that behave and battle differently. Cosmog and Kubfu take it further by being the few of their kind that can evolve. Further still, Zygarde has components that are unable to use moves and thus are unusable in battle. With all this in mind, what the mystery Pokémon could be in relation to Terapagos is left to speculation.
More details on the Pokémon games and anime are to be announced.
What do you think the mystery Pokémon’s role in the games and anime will entail? How will it connect to Terapagos? Any ideas on its name, Type, and combat capabilities? Let us know in the comments!
