Pikmin 4 has been revealed as an upcoming game coming to Nintendo Switch this July. The latest installment to the Pikmin franchise was unveiled during the Nintendo Direct 2023 live stream, revealing the gameplay to players around the world in the first trailer. The new game will feature new characters and features that will allow any player to enjoy without playing the past releases from the series. Announcements of Pikmin 1 + 2 have also been revealed to be given an HD port as the past games will launch on the Nintendo eShop.

Pikmin was first released in 2001 for the Nintendo GameCube as a real-time strategy and Puzzle video game, which was created by Shigeru Miyamoto and published by Nintendo. The game is named after the horde of plant-like creatures controlled by the player to destroy obstacles, avoid hazards, and fight the Fauna that attacks both Pikmin and the player’s character. Three installments have been released over the years, along with reboots, ports, and spin-offs including the mobile game, Pikmon Bloom, released on 26 October 2021.

Pikmin 4 Coming to Nintendo Switch

The latest game welcomes players as they become the newest member of the Rescue Corps. The new game will allow players to customize their character before meeting the capable Rescue Pup, Oatchi, and the various species of Pikmin that help you accomplish tasks. The new game is a great chance for new players to enjoy the gaming franchise as it offers a starting point for those who haven’t played any of the titles before. New features will be included in the upcoming release including Dandori Battles, which require the player to collect more objects than the opponent within the time limit to win and save the castaway.

The player will also need to collect treasures around the planet to fix the Rescue Corp’s spaceship’s radar and open new areas to explore, including underground caves, where a completely different environment from the surface awaits. And for the first time in the series, Pikmin 4 will allow players to set out for night expeditions. Nightfall sends creatures into a frenzy, so stay alert. Thankfully, you’ll come across the new Glow Pikmin to drive them away. Stay tuned because there is still much more to be unveiled as you explore the uncharted planet.

Pikmin 1 + 2 Launching on Nintendo eShop

HD versions of the first two games will launch in Nintendo eShop and the My Nintendo Store via the website later today. The games originally released on the Nintendo GameCube system will be available individually or in a digital bundle that contains both games at a discounted price. A physical version that includes both games will also be available. This will mean all 4 games from the series will be available on the Nintendo Switch as Pikmin 3 is currently available for the gaming console.

The features included with the new game are going to offer a terrific challenge as the refreshing new nighttime gameplay will add greater variation to the gameplay. The new dog, Oatchi, will likely be helpful in many situations, and it’s great how the Pikmin can also ride on the pet. It will be amazing to see the aesthetic of the game change during the nighttime as the enraged creatures and Glow Pikmin will add a different dynamic that past players are used to. This is going to be a brilliant game to start with but it’s awesome that all 3 previous games will be available for those who missed out before.

Pikmin 4 will release on July 21, 2023, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. A demo for the upcoming game will be available in Nintendo eShop and the My Nintendo Store via the website on June 28.

HD versions of Pikmin 1 + 2 will be released on the Nintendo eStore and the My Nintendo Store today, June 21, 2023. Both copies can be purchased as a two-pack, which will include a discount on the full price when bought separately. Physical copies containing both games for the Nintendo Switch will also be released on September 22, 2023.

Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
