We also include notes on moments from previous issues that link up to the current story, including the arcs that contain significant moments that lead into the new event. As there is only one comic left until the 30th-anniversary event, here are the top comics you should read before the biggest event begins.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers has featured many events and story arcs since it began in 2016. Boom! Studios comics breathed further life into the original series as characters were given more depth and even new designs were introduced from new Megazords to brand-new Rangers. Creators that left their mark on the series include Kyle Higgins, Marguerite Bennett, and Ryan Parrott, with 7 defining storylines featured over the years. The latest arc will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Power Rangers franchise as Melissa Flores begins the 12-month comic event.

Many fans have been stuck within specific comics, as so many issues have been released over the years. As the large line-up can be confusing, we have listed the major moments to take note of, plus the recent releases you will need to dive into before Darkest Hour begins. The new comic event will feature writer Melissa Flores as she starts the 30th-anniversary event that will be as momentous as the Shattered Grid event for the 25th anniversary of Power Rangers. Here are major footnotes that feed into the new storyline, including one-shot graphic novels from Boom! Studios.

There are many other comics released such as various one-shots and the Power Rangers Universe comics, but these could be enjoyed at your leisure. Most happen in various time periods that may not come into effect, but they are great to enjoy without worrying about how they tie into the new event. Power Rangers: Sins Of The Future is a splendid example as it acts as an indirect sequel to the TTRPG, Power Rangers Hyperforce Season 1, which references the Hyperforce program.

Main Comics to catch up for Upcoming Story

There are specific comics that directly feed into the upcoming story for the 30th anniversary, which includes recent releases such as Power Rangers Unlimited: The Coinless and Power Rangers Unlimited: Hyperforce. The Charge To 100 features the Death Ranger, previously known as the Gold Omega Ranger, but the Power Rangers Unlimited: Death Ranger provides a substantial background to the character too. The main thing to know is exactly what fans need to read before Darkest Hour begins, which includes the following releases.

  • Charge to 100 Arc – Features Omega Rangers meeting Andros and the debut of the Death Ranger. Also features the Season 2 team, with 7 Rangers, recovering after Eltarian WarMighty Morphin #18-22 and Power Rangers #18-22 up to the Finale, which combines both comics back into Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for issue 100.

Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
