Disney+’s The Mandalorian Season 3 was a long-awaited season. The last time fans saw the bounty hunter and his little green friend was in 2020. In 2023, the series returned for its third season and there were many surprises.
One of the biggest surprises was the unexpected cameo of Steve Blum as Zeb Orrelios. The Star Wars Rebels character was able to move further into the live-action series, which ramped up many fan excitement.
ZEB ORRELIOS’ COSTUME REVEAL
Aaron McBride, who is a Senior Art Director and a concept artist shared a concept art of Zeb Orrelios in his complete costume. Zeb is wearing full blue threads with his signature purple fur. The photos show different angles of the character, including a close up of his face. It shows off his green eyes, pointed ears and the Rebellion logo on his shoulder.

The only difference that the character has from the concept art to the final version that was seen in The Mandalorian was his nose, which appears to be more sunken in the concept version than what was seen in the series. Zeb is the second character from Rebels to appear in The Mandalorian. Rosario Dawson was the first as she made her debut as Ahsoka Tano.
WHO IS ZEB ORRELIOS?
Garazeb Orrelios, commonly known as Zeb, is a Lasat rebel who manned the starship, the Ghost. He’s a Captain of the Lasan Honor Guard and was trained to fight with a bo-rifle. Everything was great in the beginning until the Galactic Empire devastated his homeworld of Lasan and wiped out nearly all of his people including his family.
He fought to protect the people and to hold the Imperials back from the royal palace when a bomb went off, leaving him to awaken in the ruins of his people. This did not only cause trauma but also a deep hatred for the Empire. He sustained nightmares about the Imperials killing his people. He was found by a surviving Jedi Kanan Jarrus.

After learning that there was a larger rebel network, Orrelios and his fellow rebels would continue fighting threats such as Darth Vader, the Inquisitors, the former Sith Maul, and the Grand Admiral Thrawn. There are times when his fellow rebels and himself worked with criminals like crime lord Azmorigan.
Zeb didn’t get along with droids like Chopper and AP-5 but the three gained a better respect for each other when they joined forces to defeat the EX-XD-series infiltrator droid EXD-9. He remained a member of the Spectres as the rebel groups formed the Rebel Alliance. He contributed to the Liberation of Lothal and at the end of the Galactic Civil War, his former adversary Kallus and himself traveled to Lira San together.
The Disney+ Star Wars series Ahsoka has brought a lot of animated characters into live action like Grand Admiral Thrawn, Ezra Bridge, Sabine Wren and more. This is a big clue that more characters from the beloved animated series will be set to make their appearance in future live-action shows and even films. There can also be a possibility that we will see Zeb again in the future. We have our fingers crossed.
What do you all think? When should Zeb make a comeback in the live-action world of Star Wars? Would you like to see him again? Do you think they missed an opportunity to bring back Zeb in Ahsoka?
