Marvel Studios’ most anticipated Marvel Studios series Loki Season 2 is finally almost here. Fans have been waiting to see the trickster God’s return since the season finale in 2021. In early August, it was reported that Loki season 1 stands as Marvel Studios’ most-watched series on Disney+. Since the season 1 finale, fans were given other Marvel Disney+ series like Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, Secret Invasion, What…If?, She-Hulk, and more.

It seems like fans enjoy watching the God of Mischief as it was revealed that the Loki Season 2 trailer broke viewership records for Disney+ with 80 million online views. Early reactions of the series’ first four episodes hit the interwebs last night and from all the early reactions, it looked like critics are loving the series and have been praising the cast.

LOKI SEASON 2 RECEIVES PRAISE

Loki Season 2

The critical reception of the series has been positive. Some have spoken about how the pace “keeps tensions high the entire time” while others have spoken fondly of not only Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal as the titular character but also Ke Huy Quan’s character Ouroboros, better known as O.B. Check out what the critics are saying about the series below:

Comicbook.com and Phase Zero host Jenna Anderson wrote how “the cinematography is outstanding, and the cast does a great job of carrying what could be a very overwhelming plot”:

Cinema Blend’s Managing Editor Sean O’Connell says the Loki season 2 “goes much deeper into the importance of the TVA”:

Erik Davis from Fandango spoke highly about the series, stating that “this season has a more frantic pace to it, which keeps tensions high the entire time.” He continues by saying that the chemistry is great and it is still “brainy and weird”:

Entertainment publication site The Hollywood Handle calls Loki season 2 a “triumphal return.” They are calling the visuals better and how the additional cast members are “one of the best Phase 5 had so far”:

Rob Keyes from ScreenRant says that he didn’t initially love the first season but this second season “is better, faster, and takes bigger swings.” He states that depending on the direction of the followup of the fourth episode, “it might be the best Marvel Studios show on Disney+”:

Comicbook.com’s Chris Killian praises Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson’s chemistry but the ultimate MVP is Ke Huy Quan as O.B:

The Direct’s Richard Nebens says that Season 2 “delivers thrilling action, strong new characters in OB and Victor Timely.” He continues by saying that Tom Hiddleston proves why the character is the best in the MCU:

BroBible’s Senior writer Eric Italiano says that the great strength of Loki is that “it understands what makes the multiverse and time itself awe-inspiring yet equally and uniquely terrifying”:

Comicbook.com and Phase Zero host Brandon Davis speaks fondly about Ke Huy Quan. According to Davis, “he brings so much charm and joy to this show”:

And The Streamr’s writer TJ calls this season “by far the best Marvel series yet.” He states that it “wastes no time getting the story moving, with some of the biggest twists since Infinity War”:

The villain/anti-hero has been a fan favorite ever since he first appeared on the big screen in 2011’s Thor. The character has evolved over the years. He was a big villain in Avengers and he has even fought alongside Thor on a few occasions. When he was killed during the first few minutes of Avengers: Infinity War, many fans were gutted to see the character go. He made his comeback in Avengers: Endgame but as the villainous character from the Battle of New York in 2012.

In 2021, the character starred in his own series and became a hit for Loki fans everywhere. The series was the first to get a second season and it looks like mischievous God’s popularity is not slowing down any time soon. Loki Season 2 arrives exclusively on Disney+ on October 5, 2023.
