The Walking Dead has had major success with fans, with its fourth spin-off Daryl Dixon it’s undeniable. Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, the series portrays life in the months and years that follow a zombie apocalypse. Due to the massive success that starred Norman Reedus, Andrew Lincoln, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and many more, multiple spin-off series were introduced, such as Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and now The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

At this year’s New York Comic Con, it was revealed that a beloved character will be making an appearance in the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

CAROL AND DARYL REUNITED

Carol Peletier and Daryl Dixon have had a complicated past since the second season of The Walking Dead. They’ve gone through different hurdles along the way with the gang but they’ve grown together to be the best of friends. Many fans had high hopes that Carol would once again reunite with Daryl. This was finally confirmed at the New York Comic Con panel where Norman Reedus on stage and Melissa McBride joined her friend and fans via a video link.

TWD actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan made McBride’s return to the public online in late June with a photo of her and Reedus wearing the TWD outfit. Check out the official tweet below:

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol is set to debut in 2024 and according to McBride, there’s more to be told of Carol’s story:

“I felt so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away. Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries.”

In the spin-off series, Daryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France. The official synopsis says that he “struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hoped to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.”

In the Season 1 Coming Home finale of TWD: Daryl Dixon, Mcbride’s Carol was supposed to be part of the Europe-based TWD spin-off. In April 2022, it was announced that the actress would not be part of the show (or at least not right away). According to AMC, relocating to Europe was difficult for the actress. Reedus, on other hand, was able to be more expansive on what went down in the series.

“I imagine those characters are gonna meet back up at some point and I might even meet up with some other characters down the road. But she’s taking time off and in the meantime, they were like, ‘Hey, you wanna go on a mission?’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah! Let’s go on a mission.”
