ROCKSTAR GAMES CONFIRMS DETAILS ON GTA VI TRAILER DEBUT

Earlier in November, Rockstar Games had announced that a trailer would be released around this time as December marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of Rockstar Games. The GTA series has consistently been one of the core series of Rockstar Games since the company was founded.

The franchise’s last installment, Grand Theft Auto V, was first released in September 2013, so it’s been over 10 years since the last game release. In the announcement, Rockstar noted, “We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto.” It also noted, “We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.”

Grand Theft Auto V also had a separate online multiplayer component with Grand Theft Auto Online, which became a huge success. GTA V eventually added a new wrinkle to the gameplay, with an alternative first-person view mode in 2014.

The last game was a staggering success for Rockstar. Since it was first released, it’s sold over 190 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling games of all time. Rockstar also revealed that the GTA series has sold over 405 million copies worldwide throughout the life of the franchise. That means expectations will be sky-high for GTA VI.

Rockstar Games generally has a good track record with their major game releases, so it should be interesting to see what the publisher has in store for the next GTA game and what innovations fans can expect from it.

Rockstar first confirmed the development of the new installment in February 2022, so there hasn’t been a lot of news on the sequel until now. At the time, Rockstar stated, “We are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.” It also stated, “On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you!”

Footage of the new game even leaked last year as the result of a data breach. Authorities also reportedly arrested a British teenage hacker believed to be in connection to the incident. Rockstar has not yet announced a release date or window for the new game. Hopefully, Tuesday’s trailer release will provide more insight into when the game will be released. One would expect the game will be released on all current-generation consoles and Windows PC.
