WWE Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

Kevin Owens recently spoke on how his longtime friend and former tag team partner, Sami Zayn, is “probably the best I’ve ever been in the ring with.” Owens is quietly one of the best wrestlers in WWE.  He puts on some of the best matches on the card and is one of the best talkers.  He has also worked with some of the top Superstars in the company and those he hasn’t is only because he is so busy.

This is exactly what Owens said during a recent interview with James Williams, and the former WWE Universal Champion spoke about what Zayn brings to his matches. Owens said the following on his former co-holder with the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships:

“Sami brings out the best of me as an opponent and as a partner. It sounds exaggerated to say this, especially when people will call themselves that, and it makes me roll my eyes a lot. Whether people call themselves ‘great’ or ‘good,’ or even when people say, ‘I’m good at this,’ ‘I’m great at that.’ ‘I’m the best in the world.’

‘Okay, Sami Zayn is probably the best I’ve ever been in the ring with, and I don’t think I’m the only one who would say that. As far as the athletic side goes, he can do it all. From a performance standpoint, from the intensity, the passion he brings, and the connection he has with the audience, very few people have it all like he does.”

Zayn is one of the many Superstars who has proven themselves as one of WWE’s best and most reliable. While Zayn had been underrated for many years, the world began to see just how good Zayn is when he started working with The Bloodline last year. The slow-burn storyline with Sami Zayn and The Bloodline eventually culminated in an amazing match with Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in February.

Owens also spoke about how much Zayn influenced him when he was coming up earlier in his wrestling career.  He also said that he learned a lot from him and considers him a wrestling brother. In the main event of WrestleMania 39: Night 1, Owens and Zayn were able to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships from The Usos.

It was the first time either man had held the WWE Tag Team Championships.  Being able to win the championships with his best friend was the second most incredible moment of his career according to Owens.  The first was his match with Stone Cold Steve Austin, which took place a year earlier in the main event of WrestleMania 38: Night 1.

Owens and Zayn grew up not too far from each other in Quebec, Canada, but they had never met growing up. They later met in 2002 and have spent their entire careers intertwined.  Sometimes they were partners and other times rivals, but they have always had tremendous chemistry.

In 2013 Zayn signed with WWE and began wrestling for NXT.  The following year Owens followed his “wrestling brother” and signed with WWE.  The two men’s careers continued to intertwine and intersect in WWE.  In 2013 Zayn became the NXT champion and Owens seemingly came out to congratulate his friend only to attack him and restart their rivalry, but this time in WWE’s developmental league.  The two men continued to go from best friends to rivals throughout their careers.

Currently, Zayn is set on dismantling The Judgment Day and making sure they aren’t able to achieve their goals. At WWE Survivor Series, he teamed with Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, and the returning Randy Orton to beat The Judgment Day’s team of Damian Priest, Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, and Drew McIntyre. Meanwhile, Owens looks to be setting his sights on WWE US Champion Logan Paul over on SmackDown.

What have you thought of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn’s work since WrestleMania?  Do you think it has been some of the best of his career?  Do you think he is one of the best in the world like Owens does?  If not, who in WWE do you think is better?  Do you think Zayn elevates Owens when they share the ring?  Who do you think will be a world champion next in WWE, Owens or Zayn?  Let us know what you like to see from Zayn during the upcoming year.
