Capcom Unleashes Monster Hunter WildsTM as the next upcoming game during the Game Awards 2023. The Monster Hunter franchise will welcome a new installment as fans are treated by the first trailer for the upcoming RPG. The released video teases the amazing new environments as well as new gameplay elements that will feature exclusively in the next generation of Hunters. The highly anticipated adventure will begin in 2025 on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The Monster Hunter franchise has grown in recent years as the iconic Action RPG series releases titles on multiple platforms, including PC. Monster Hunter World started the multi-platform trend when released in 2018 as the game was released on PC months after its release on consoles. The latest releases include Monster Hunter Rise, which was released on 26 March 2021, and the first mobile game, Monster Hunter Now, released in September 2023. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak was the big expansion pack for the latest Action RPG, which adds a greater amount of content for players to continue hunting.

Today at The Game Awards 2023, Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, announced Monster Hunter Wilds™. This brand-new entry in the award-winning Monster Hunter™ series is now in development and is gearing up to release in 2025 for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

“We’re thrilled to announce Monster Hunter Wilds today and reveal the newest entry in the Monster Hunter series to fans all over the world. Our team is working passionately to create the greatest Monster Hunter experience yet, and we’re eager to play the game with everyone when it launches in 2025. Until then, please look forward to summer 2024, when we’ll have more information to share.”

Monster Hunter series producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto.

The Monster Hunter series is now celebrating its 20th anniversary. Since 2004, the beloved co-op action RPGs have sold over 95 million units worldwide. In the games, players hunt larger-than-life foes across expansive natural environments. Each monster poses a unique challenge, so players must plan carefully, form hunting parties with friends, and utilize everything at their disposal to survive these thrilling set-piece quests. As a reward for overcoming their quarry, hunters can harvest the remains to craft equipment and upgrade their customizable arsenal for the challenges ahead.

Everyone looking forward to the upcoming title can start their journey today by picking up Monster Hunter: World™ at a great discount. The highly acclaimed game is on sale now for $9.99 USD on digital storefronts. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne™ and its Master Edition are also currently available for $14.99 USD and $19.99 USD, respectively.

The new location teased by the upcoming game looks bigger than before as there seems to be so much more added to the environment. The new mount allowing players to glide will be a welcomed addition, but it’s amazing to see a full herd encountered like a fully realized habitat. As the only combat featured is the monsters clashing into a large group, it will be curious to see how combat will be affected if there is a big cluster of foes.

The most fascinating part of the trailer was seeing waves of changes within the new land. There appears to be a wave of sand changing to area, revealing plants and wildlife. The lightning featured in the trailer also appears to bring a new challenge, which seems similar to the setting seen in the Monster Hunter movie starring Milla Jovovich, Tony Jaa, and Ron Perlman. The change in terrain and atmosphere also suggests bigger changes happening during a hunt, so it will be curious to see how problematic the new land and its lightning strikes will become.

Monster Hunter WildsTM is the next upcoming game for the Monster Hunter franchise, releasing in 2025. More information and details will be revealed during Summer 2025.

Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
