Deadline reports that Marvel Studios has hired screenwriter Matthew Orton to the production of Captain America: Brave New World to pen additional scenes and material for the upcoming feature. Orton has done previous work with Marvel Studios such as being a consulting producer for the Disney+ series, Moon Knight. He is also credited with the World War II thriller Operation Finale and Devil’s Peak.

According to Deadline’s report, Orton will be working on material that will be shot with additional photography. It is set to take place in the spring/summer of 2024.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD EXPERIENCING RESHOOTS AND DELAYS
After the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike, The Walt Disney Company announced that some of their upcoming film projects were going to be delayed. Deadpool 3, Thunderbolts, Captain America: Brave New World, and Blade were among the group of Marvel projects that were impacted. Captain America: Brave New World is now moving from July 26, 2024 to February 14, 2025.
The new Captain America film had already completed photography before the strike but now with the delay, it gives the studio more time for any additional material and/or potential reshoots. Reshoots are a common practice for blockbuster films, especially with recent Marvel Studios projects.
Now that Orton will be penning for the upcoming Captain America film, he will be working with both Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman. Musson and Spellman have both worked on the previous Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD
In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, fans watched Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson take on the mantle of Captain America. Plans for the fourth Captain America film with Mackie taking on the lead role was announced months after the series’ season finale. Since its announcement, Harrison Ford was cast as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, taking the role over the late William Hurt. Liv Tyler and Tim Blake will be reprising their roles from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Shira Haas and Danny Ramirez are also set to join the cast. Julius Onah is set to direct the film.
In a previous interview with The Wrap, Anthony Mackie spoke about how working on the set of the film was a “great experience.” He stated the following:
“These Marvel movies have kind of turned into summer camp. You got to set and there’s people that you’ve known for 10, 12 years now that you’ve worked with and got to know, and people have kids and people get divorced and people buy homes. So, it’s like going back to see your old friends. So, it was really easy. At no point in time did I feel like it was a different experience from any of the other Marvel movies I’ve done. It was just a great experience, you can only go down from here.”
-Anthony Mackie-
Mackie’s Sam Wilson was first introduced in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and reprised his role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
