PREVIOUSLY ON THE WALKING DEAD: DARYL DIXON

In the first season of AMC AND AMC+’s The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Daryl washes ashore in France and has trouble piecing together how he got there and why. He journeys through France, where he crosses a broken but resilient country, hoping to find his way back home. He forms connections along the way, which eventually complicates his plans.

In the season finale, viewers were able to see Carol at Freeport, Maine, where she discovers Daryl’s motorcycle while searching for her lost friend. Once Carol captures the hostile rider who was in possession of the bike, he directs her to where he found it which leads into the second season.

The series was first announced in September 2020 when both Reedus and McBride were signed to reprise their respective roles for the television series. In July 2023, before the first season’s release, the series was renewed for a second season and subtitled as The Book of Carol. The first season was received with positive reviews from critics, with many noting the similarities to The Last of Us television series. Rotten Tomatoes had an average approval rating of 71% based on 38 reviews with an average rating of 8.2/10.
