Braun Strowman looks back on what a blessing it was to be a part of the Wyatt Family and winning the Universal Championship from a childhood idol. Strowman recently came back to the WWE and his presence was very much missed. Strowman joined the WWE in 2013, but his career didn’t take off until 2015.

In 2015 Braun Strowman came out on RAW as the newest member of the Wyatt Family. He was recently a guest on Insight With Chris Van Vliet and talked about how joining the Wyatt Family changed his life.

“[The Wyatt Family] changed my entire life. I was this kid that was told he was never gonna make it, never gonna be anything. [I was a] bullied, fat kid growing up. And having a group of guys, three talented, unbelievable human beings take me under their wing and show me the ways through this crazy business, words can’t really explain how grateful I am for that, because I’m not where I am in life without those guys.”

The Wyatt Family first began in 2012 in NXT. The following year they made their main roster debut. They terrorized the main roster for years and seemed to be the perfect faction. This is why Van Vliet was curious about how Strowman joining the faction came about.

Strowman revealed that it was Bray Wyatt’s idea for him to join The Wyatt Family. According to Strowman, Wyatt was pushing for him to join his faction from the moment he first saw him.

“From the day Windham [Bray Wyatt] saw me the first time, he knew that he needed me. He did everything he could and lobbied for me to be a part of the family. So like I said, it was meant to be.”

Tragic Deaths In The Wyatt Family

Strowman has nothing but nice things to say about his wrestling family. Unfortunately that family is missing two members. In December 2020, Luke Harper who was wrestling for AEW at the time as Brodie Lee died from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. In August 2023 the wrestling world lost the leader of The Wyatt Family, Bray Wyatt. He died in his sleep from a heart attack.

Strowman has been out of WWE for a long time as he underwent neck surgery. However, he recently returned after being drafted to RAW. On the April 29 episode of RAW he came out to save Jey Uso from a beatdown the Judgement Day and Logan Paul were giving him. Strowman easily dispatched the powerful faction and Paul.

With Strowman’s return to WWE, he has once again become one of the most dangerous opponents anyone can face. He is a former Universal champion and he may want to have another bit of gold around his waist.

Strowman talked about how special his Universal Championship win was for him. His win meant a lot to him because a childhood idol, Goldberg, handpicked him for the match and to pass the championship onto him.

“It meant the world because like I said, as a kid growing up idolizing him [Goldberg] to becoming friends with him, unfortunate circumstances with everything going on with the pandemic and what happened, he wanted me. So he picked me to do that and do the honors and pass that torch.” H/T Wrestling Inc.

Initially the plan was to have Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns, but this was early on in the pandemic and the world was very unstable. Reigns decided to take time off as he has chronic myeloid leukemia and didn’t want to risk getting COVID. This left an opening for someone new to step into a match with Goldberg. According to Strowman, Goldberg told him there were only two guys he would lose the title to at that moment. Strowman held the championship for 141 days before he lost it to Wyatt.

Strowman has yet to start his first feud back, but he has a lot of options and championships he can pursue. Everyone on the RAW roster needs to be really nice to Strowman because he is one man you don’t want to make angry.

Do you think Braun Strowman was the perfect addition to The Wyatt Family? Do you think he would be as successful if he didn’t join the Wyatts? Are you disappointed he hasn’t won a world title again? Do you think he was the right person to defeat Goldberg for the championship? Let us know on social media what you would like to see Strowman accomplish now that he is back from injury.
