Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111 previews have been unleashed as fans await the new issue for the Darkest Hour event. The new Boom! Studios story arc will join in the 30th-anniversary celebration as a huge event takes place that will affect the Power Rangers universe. The new issue previews reveal the continuation of the story from the prelude as Zords enters the battlefield. The big event will focus on Mistress Vile as she infects the Morphin Grid with Dark Specter’s evil, while the Rangers struggle to stop her.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is celebrating its 30th-anniversary event as Boom! Studios begin the Darkest Hour event this August. Fans have already been captivated by the new releases such as Power Rangers Unlimited: The Coinless and Power Rangers Unlimited: Hyperforce. These new one-shot comics were revealed to all be included in the upcoming event. The event written by Melissa Flores will be 12 months long as Mistress Vile warps the Morphin Grid to release Dark Spector.

BOOM! Studios, under license by global leader in play Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) revealed a first look at Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111, the beginning of the Darkest Hour event, taking place after the bold and greatly anticipated Reunited, Recharged era of MMPR with a superstar creative lineup of writer Melissa Flores (Power Rangers, The Dead Lucky), artist Simona Di Gianfelice (Firefly), colorist Raúl Angulo (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and letterer Ed Dukeshire (The Woods, Irredeemable) in the kickoff of this monumental 12-month event, available in August 2023.

Mistress Vile has won, or so it seems, with control of the Grid and Dark Specter’s infections spreading through the universe! The Rangers are presented with the impossible choice of saving either their friend or the universe against Dark Specter and find themselves separated and stranded until they receive help from the last team they’d expect, but not be the help they were hoping for.

In the tradition of Shattered Grid and perfectly timed with the 30th anniversary writer Melissa Flores and Simona Di Gianfelice kick off the event they’ve been building toward for the last year that will forever change the universe.

Fans wouldn’t be caught dead missing out on the debut of Björn Barends’ Dark Grid Variant Covers–the most twisted threats the Rangers have ever seen brought to life.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111 features main cover art by star artist Taurin Clarke (Miles Morales: Spider-Man) and variant covers by acclaimed illustrators Björn Barends (Spawn), Goñi Montes (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Keyla Valerio (Power Rangers Unlimited), Ariel Olivetti (BRZRKR), and Tyler Kirkham (Invincible).

Celebrating 30 continuous years on the air, Power Rangers has become one of the longest-running kids’ live-action series in television history, with more than 900 episodes aired to date. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the series celebrates its 30th year with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, an anniversary special streaming exclusively on Netflix. The 30th overall season, Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury, premieres Fall 2023 exclusively on Netflix.

The introduction of Lord Zedd as a Ranger has invoked a huge moment in the history of the franchise. With such an iconic villain tapping into the Morphin Grid, it’s clear how significant the upcoming fight will be to stop Empress Vile. The Zord fights shown in the preview pages continue the prelude issue perfectly as Lord Zedd unleashes his Serpentera Zord, leaving the Rangers confused. It will be exciting to finally see the Drakkon Rangers and Hyperforce Ranger join the fight, as their one-shot comics teased their integration into the event. For now, fans are eager to see what horrors will play out as the Darkest Hour has only just begun.

Print copies of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111 will be available for sale on August 23, 2023, at local comic book shops or at the BOOM! Studios website. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers like comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and Kindle.

Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
