We got new details for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC we need to talk about.

New details for the latest expansion of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, The Indigo Disk, has been revealed!

On December 7, 2023, The Pokémon Company released the latest trailer for the second part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero: The Indigo Disk. Following the events of The Teal Mask (meeting Kieran and Carmine, befriending Ogerpon, confronting the Loyal Three), players will attend the Unova region’s Blueberry Academy as an exchange student. During the adventure, players will also revisit the Great Crater of Paldea, where the conclusion of the base game’s story took place. Deeper in the abyss lies a mysterious place holding secrets pertaining to Terapagos and the origins of the Terastal phenomenon…

Students at Blueberry Academy can join the League Club, where they perform extracurricular activities known as Blueberry Quests (BBQ for short). Completing these BBQs earns the students the school currency of Blueberry Points (BP), used for in-school transactions, enhancing the clubroom, and even inviting friends for group quests. Special coaches can offer Pokémon trades, complete with the Partner Ribbon and title bearing the original owner’s name. Donating BP to the Baseball Club unlocks different throwing styles, a feature returning from Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon.

One of the new features arriving in this expansion is Synchronization, which allows Trainers to view the world through their Pokémon’s senses. Via the Synchro Machine, players will be able to freely control their Pokémon in the overworld and battle wild Pokémon. This is also possible in multiplayer, so players and friends can explore the Pokémon World in a fascinating new way. The device is unlocked once the player helps a scientist in her Terrarium research.

Although initially believed to be temporary, Koraidon and Miraidon will be able to achieve full flight once enough progress is made in The Indigo Disk. The last time players were able to freely fly on a Legendary Dragon Pokémon was in OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire, almost a decade ago.

Pokémon: Old Friends, New Friends

For those who miss having full sets of starters and Legendary Pokémon in their collection, fret not, for every starter and Legendary Pokémon from previous Generations make a return. A Blueberry Academy staff member named Snacksworth provides snacks for encountering specific Legendary Pokémon back in Paldea. Legendary Pokémon can be encountered once the main story of The Indigo Disk is completed.

Regional forms (Alolan, Galarian, Hisuian) also return, with Terrarium biomes allowing for certain forms otherwise locked to specific regions being accessible without transferring from an older game. New Pokémon previously shown in the DLC trailers – Raging Bolt, Iron Crown, Archaludon, and Terapagos – make their official debuts in The Indigo Disk.

The Indigo Disk will be available on December 14, 2023. The first expansion, The Teal Mask, is available now. Copies of Scarlet and Violet with the complete DLC bundle is also available. Mystery Gifts for Darkrai and Shiny Lucario will be held until December 21, 2023 and January 3, 2024 respectively. Mass Outbreaks of Flabebe (Paldea), Litwick (Kitakami), and Milcery (Blueberry Academy) will be held until December 21, 2023. Players who purchased the DLC can obtain New Uniform sets for their character.
