Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order took the world by storm when it was initially released in November of last year. Now according to IGN, EA CEO Andrew Wilson is confirming that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is the start of a new franchise, suggesting more games, including a sequel to the original game.

During an earnings call Wilson stated the following about the future of Jedi Fallen Order.

“[Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is the] first title in an entirely new franchise.”

This is now being considered a confirmation that the fan-favorite game will be more than just an one-off adventure and fans will be able to interact with these characters once again.

Potentially Battlefront III is now off the table to make room for a sequel to Jedi Fallen Order. The recent comments from Wilson only seem to solidify these rumors even more.

Personally I think it’s a mistake for EA to completely disregard the Battlefront franchise for Jedi: Fallen Order. While it’s true that Fallen Order was a huge success for EA, the Battlefront series brings something different to the table, which is the online feature.

Online multiplayer is a huge part of gaming today. Games like Fortnite and more recently Valorant prove that fact. So for EA to completely go away from that is completely baffling to me. Especially if they chose to go free-to-play for the next Battlefront entry, I feel like that would be an easy moneymaker for EA considering they would be able to bring back microtransactions.

That being said, expanding on the Jedi Fallen Order mythos is also a good idea for EA, It just shouldn’t completely replace Battlefront. I think this series of games could potentially give fans the Star Wars trilogy they have been looking for especially since the first game was received so well. However, we will have to wait and see how all of this will pan out.

What do you think about the confirmation of more Jedi: Fallen Order games and the possibility that they could be replacing the Battlefront series of games entirely? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to come back to The Illuminerdi for more Star Wars news like this in the future!
