Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic will have you traveling through beautifully hand-drawn worlds in this new 2D hidden object game. Filled with cute, adorable, and sometimes chaotic scenes; players have the option to play story mode, architect, and/or try their hand at other’s creations. Published and developed by Rogueside, Hidden through Time 2: Myths & Magic seems to expand what people loved about the first one, Hidden Through Time, while adding new elements that add to the charm.
In this new edition to the series, story mode comes with a total of 32 levels that are broken down between four magical eras, each one with eight levels. But the fun doesn’t have to stop there, because there are always a variety of new levels being created by other players online. With no time restraint or penalties for getting things wrong, Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic provides a relaxing and fun environment.
Hidden Through Time 2 Story vs. Online Mode
Adding the ability to keep the fun going, as well as giving the power to the players to create their own, is probably one of the best decisions any puzzle developer could make. Especially in games like Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic. While the story mode is fun and cute, at times whimsical with the plot, it can feel unbalanced.
This is mostly due to the way the levels break down. For the most part, a lot of the levels felt too easy for someone who might be a regular at hidden object games. As you progress through each era, the levels will add more items to be found, while making them slightly more difficult. On top of that, each era has a special item that can be found on almost every level. It is that bonus item that seemed to offer the hardest challenge, which in turn left me being the most excited to find it.
While boredom lingered with the first few levels in every era, the online option offers you the ability to choose between a wide range. Each map lets you see an image of the play area, how many hidden items, likes, and also if you have completed it. You also can search for categories like most liked, most played, most completed, and most popular. Having that option to find the games that better suit your needs, compared to just the story mode that is geared for relaxing fun, plays into what makes Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic so wonderful.
Shifting of Elements
One of the new features in Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic is the ability to Reality Shift. This breaks up the playing map into different elements like day, night, snow, and rain. Mostly this impacts the items, which can be found in either one or multiple elements. However, this also just adds to the cuteness factor overall.
Changing the element, also changed the whole scene. Characters who were huddled around a campfire, singing songs at night, might be shivering under a tree during a rainstorm. One of the best attributes this game has is the adorable graphics and cartoon-style art that is reminiscent of Where’s Waldo. So adding this new mechanic is like adding a cherry to the overall experience and is by far the best addition to the Hidden Through Time series.
Architect 2.0 is a Builders Dream
There is a niche group of gamers who are just absolute masters when it comes to building. If you are like them and get more enjoyment out of crafting levels than playing them, Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic is a dream come true. When you enter into the build screen, the first thing that is beautifully broken down is the tutorial. This doesn’t just make the process seem uncomplicated and easy to follow, but it focuses on letting one’s creativity shine.
It seems like everything in the process is as simple as possible. Map-making tools allow creators open reign to sculpt terrain any way they want. Each item from houses to people are easily customized with color, clothing, and even movements. Again, it can’t be stressed enough at how all of these options are as easy as one click. Making Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic one of the best map builders for beginners.
Enjoyable, Relaxing, and Overall Fun
If you have always wanted to try building your own levels, this honesty is a great stress-free option. In general, Hidden Through Time 2: Myth & Magic is a carefree hidden object game that allows the player to create their own destiny. It doesn’t matter if they want a simple, relaxing puzzle, one that is more challenging, or just to allow their creativity to fly, this game delivers. Not only that, but it does so in such a cute and entertaining way.
