Rhea Ripley Wants to Face Jade Cargill in the Future and Challenge Herself

Rhea Ripley appeared on The MMA Hour, speaking about a potential matchup with Jade Cargill.
WWE WrestleMania 39 - Rhea Ripley

Top WWE Superstar and Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley loves a good challenge and she sees Jade Cargill as that next big challenge sometime in the future. Ripley is probably the most popular heel in WWE and that includes the men. She has taken control of Judgement Day and helped to make it arguably the best faction in pro wrestling today.

Rhea Ripley is the current Women’s World champion and has held the championship for just over a year having defeated Charlotte Flair for it at last year’s WrestleMania. She has torn her way through the women’s division and beaten some of the best women on the roster.

However, while a guest on The MMA Hour With Ariel Helwani, Ripley was asked about her thoughts on Jade Cargill. She revealed that facing her sometime in the future is something she is looking forward to. Ripley stated on Jade Cargill:

“Jade Cargill, she is amazing. I’ll give her her props. She is aesthetically pleasing and she is a force to be reckoned with. She looks amazing, she is amazing, she works amazingly. Her promo work is amazing. Everything about her screams ‘Superstar.’ So when that time comes [to face her], obviously, I would love to step into the ring with her.

But I feel like that’s a money match. I feel like we have to wait for the perfect moment and the perfect stage. Whether that’s WrestleMania next year, WrestleMania the next two years, WrestleMania in the next three years, we’ll have to wait for that, but I’m impressed, I am. It takes a lot to impress me.”

RHEA RIPLEY IS EXCITED FOR A POTENTIAL MATCHUP WITH JADE CARGILL

Cargill is not exactly a household name for WWE fans. She joined the WWE in September and WWE has been hyping her up and making her sound like a real force in the women’s division. However, she hasn’t been able to show much of that potential. Cargill’s only match was in the Royal Rumble match in January. In the match, she showed the WWE Universe how strong she is and teased a confrontation with Bianca Belair, but that was stopped before they could get physical.

Rhea Ripley went on to explain some of the reasons a future match with Cargill excites her. She explained that she likes a challenge and having an opponent who rivals her size and strength makes her look forward to a future match. She continued:

“So that excites me [an opponent her size]. I love a good challenge, I really do. There’s a certain amount of people that bring that challenge like your Raquel Rodriguez, like your Nia Jax … like your Bianca Belairs, like your Jade Cargills. It excites me, it does, it really excites me.”

Cargill is a newcomer to WWE but had a substantial history from her time in AEW. She was a part of AEW from 2020 to 2023. While in AEW she captured the AEW TBS Championship and became its first champion. She had a 60-match undefeated streak and a title reign of 508 days. Her title reign is the longest reign for not only that title but any AEW title.

Cargill leaving AEW for WWE was the second big loss for AEW after Cody Rhodes. She was shortly joined by CM Punk and Andrade. Since signing she has been waiting in the wings and trying to decide the perfect time to fully step into the WWE ring.

Last Friday on SmackDown was that perfect moment for Cargill. Damage CTRL was attacking Naomi and Bianca Belair and Cargill came down to the ring to save the pair from Damage CTRL. This set up a match for this Saturday at WrestleMania. The women will face off in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match with Naomi, Belair, and Cargill vs. Damage CTRL (Asuka, Kairi Sane, and Dakota Kai). This will be a tough first match for Cargill in WWE, but an exciting one.
