Hollywood acting veteran Ernie Hudson reveals his on-going history with Marvel Studios.
Marvel Studios is always on the lookout to bring the best and brightest stars of Hollywood into their feature films. While there are no guarantees that the studio ends up getting the particular actor that they want for every particular role, there seems to be a huge list of names that Kevin Feige and the team have on hand when new high profile roles become available.
With over a dozen projects already confirmed for just the next two years and undoubtedly dozens more in the earliest stages of planning, the casting department is assuredly going to be working overtime to find the right people for the right roles. This is aided by actors in the industry that are consistently vocal about their desire to join one of the next big superhero franchises, and news has just come out regarding one in particular that has been loved by fans for decades.
Ernie Hudson And Marvel Studios’ Long History
In a new release from Comicbookmovie, Hollywood veteran Ernie Hudson has confirmed previous discussions to appear in a movie from Marvel Studios. The longtime star revealed that he had been in some early discussions to play King T’Chaka in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, before reprising the role in 2018’s Black Panther, but he gave some exciting insight with these quotes:
Louis D’Esposito, who’s co-president over at Marvel [Studios], I keep sending him texts and it’s like, ‘Hey, I’m here and I’m available.’ And I’m not very good at begging. You know what I mean? I don’t know how to do that well.
I’ve been a fan of the Marvel universe and DC [movies]. I love that stuff. I grew up with a lot of it, but it hasn’t been from a lack of desire on my part. First it was the dad in Black Panther. So I kind of hinted [at it] — I went a little beyond hinting. The fans started to pick it up. So I called and I said, ‘Well, you know there’s the part of the dad.’ He said, ‘Well, that part is too small for you.
Not only is Hudson showing just how much he wants to join an MCU blockbuster, but it seems almost guaranteed that the studio wants to cast him in a significant role worthy of his talent and resume! Simply being T’Challa’s father, even as significant of a role as that is in the Black Panther storyline, doesn’t seem to be enough of a role to showcase Hudson to the highest potential. This should be exciting for fans everywhere hoping for him to join the MCU!
Hudson is most well known for playing Winston Zeddmore in the wildly popular Ghostbusters movies from 1984 and 1989. He is also one of the most memorable characters in 2000’s Miss Congeniality amongst many other roles in his nearly 50-year career.

He is currently starring L.A’s Finest and has given other memorable guest starring performances in series like Scorpion, Psych, Ballers and Modern Family. He even lent his voice to the role of Robbie Robertson in the currently running animated Spider-Man series.
I for one am enormously excited at the potential for a Ernie Hudson to join the MCU, and I know that Kevin Feige and the team are doing their due diligence in finding the perfect role for the ever-loved star! Who do you think Ernie Hudson should be cast as in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Would he have made a good T’Chaka? Let us know in the comment section below or we can discuss on our social media!
