The pager that Captain Marvel gave to Nick Fury appears to have a direct connection with the cosmic future of the MCU.
Marvel fans are always on the hunt for Easter Eggs that are spread throughout the run times of every single Marvel movie produced, especially those in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Whether it’s analyzing Fury’s world map from Iron Man 2 or looking closely at Erik Selvig’s chalkboard map from Thor: The Dark World, there are dozens of MCU scents with hidden Easter eggs for hardcore fans to find.
The worldwide lockdown has go even fans more time than usual to go back into their favorite MCU fans and put in detailed searches for every possible tease that they can throughout the saga. A new one of these teases has just been unveiled through an internet post, and it could have some potentially exciting repercussions for the MCU’s future.
Captain Marvel Pager is S.W.O.R.D. Approved
in a new post on eBay, an unfinished prototype model of the pager from the post credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War and the end of Captain Marvel has gone on sale, with bids as high as $2500 USD. The interesting bit about this prop is that on the back, there is a logo that appears to be for the classic Marvel team S.W.O.R.D., which is short for the Sentient World Observation and Response Department.
In the comics, S.W.O.R.D. is best described as the outer space equivalent to S.H.I.E.L.D. on Earth, a team of agents that respond to any threats from aliens or other sentient beings outside of our home planet. The organization has not been directly referenced in the MCU yet, although events of recent movies and news from upcoming shows help the franchise perfectly lead into it.

S.W.O.R.D. is already to confirmed to play some kind of role in the new Disney+ miniseries WandaVision with the adult version of Monica Rambeau from Captain Marvel playing a big part in the organization. There is also the tease at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home to consider, where Nick Fury was shown to be in space working on a mysterious big project on some kind of space station.
It seems like it will only be a matter of time before S.W.O.R.D. truly makes its presence known in the MCU, especially with multiple new movies coming that heavily take place in outer space. Fans are already hoping to see more of the pager itself in the upcoming Captain Marvel 2, set for worldwide release on July 8, 2022.
