We get our first look at the new revival of Sex and the City.
It was impossible growing up in the early 2000’s and not having at least passing knowledge of HBO’s juggernaut trail-blazer Sex and The City (though its film adaptations and spin-off series The Carrie Diaries are best left a distant memory). We learned of HBO’s planned continuation of the series a few months ago, and now we finally have an image of the 3 leads from the set.Â
Check it out below:
The Sex and the City Cast is (Mostly) Back On The Streets
We see Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristen Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) standing in NYC with fashionable outfits and confident smiles on their faces as if nothing has changed since the original show ended. Curiously, Sex and the City mainstay Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is nowhere to be seen, but I imagine the show will explain her absence in one of Carrie’s iconic monologues.

While I’ve only seen snip-its of the original Sex & The City, its impact on the larger entertainment landscape didn’t escape me. The series ran for 6 seasons and 94 episodes on HBO from 1998-2004 and received 2 film adaptations as well as a short-lived prequel on the CW. The films were released in 2008 and 2010 and the prequel ran from 2013-2014 entitled The Carrie Diaries (oh how I wish CW’s Vampire Diaries crossed over with it).Â
The reboot series will be entitled And Just Like That with 10 half-hour episodes. Barring Kim Cattrall, the main cast will reprise their roles from the original show. Said cast includes Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Kristen Davis (Charlotte York Goldenblatt), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes, Sara Ramirez (Che Diaz), Chris Noth (Mr. Big), Mario Cantone (Anthony Morentino), Willie Garson (Stanford Blatch), David Elgenberg (Steve Brady), and Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt).Â
And Just Like That will premiere in late 2021. What are your thoughts on Sex & The City’s continuation? Do you think there were more stories left untold, or should it have ended with the movies? Who’s your favorite character on the show? Let us know in the comments below and on our Twitter.
