Actor and director John Krasinski reaffirms his interest in playing Fantastic Four leader Reed “Mr. Fantastic” Richards in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
John Krasinski isn’t quite the same actor today as he was when The Office first launched him into the spotlight. Since then, he has shown the world he has what it takes to carry a dramatic project in both Jack Ryan and A Quiet Place. Krasinski is now a proven leading man and it seems that he’s interested in taking that confidence over to Marvel Studios.
John Krasinski Fans the Marvel Flames
Rumors have been circulating for months about Krasinski playing the patriarch of Marvel’s first family. According to a recent profile with Esquire, it seems those rumors have made it back to Krasinski himself.
“I was just about to walk into the worst pun ever, but I was like, that’s a fantastic role. That would be awesome…Marvel wrote the playbook on secrecy and awesome sort of tantalizing lay and wait until everything’s announced. I am not committed to the role or anything, but I don’t know when they’re doing it. But if and when they do it, I would love to talk to them about it.”
It doesn’t sound like there has been any conversations with Marvel about the role just yet, but the internet is pretty unanimous that he would make a good Reed Richards. There have been recent whispers on the rumor mill that Emily Blunt did meet with Marvel about a role, though which role has been unannounced at this time. While we know that she was previously in the running to play Black Widow years ago.
This has helped to fuel the rumor that John Krasinski’s real-life wife, could be in the running to play Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman. Who also happens to be the wife of Reed Richards in the pages of Marvel Comics. The Krasinski and Blunt already have proven chemistry on-screen, after their roles in A Quiet Place. The duo being being the leads of the MCU film could lead to some great experiences!
