Production on Season 3 for the global smash-hit series is already underway, with Netflix revealing a set photo earlier this month featuring series stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Freya Allan as Ciri. Based on the character names and descriptions for the new characters, they look to be significant, recurring roles for the show in Season 3 and possibly beyond. Here’s a taste of what fans can expect from the new cast members for Season 3:
- Robbie Amell as “Gallatin”:
Gallatin is described by Netflix as a “born fighter” and leader of the guerrilla army of elves called the Scoia’tael. The Scoia’tael are elves in league with Niflgaard fighting against the Northern Armies and kingdoms of The Continent, who will be familiar to fans of the books and games. However, Gallatin himself is not a character from the books or one created by author Andrzej Sapkowski. He appears to be a brand-new creation for the series.
- Meng’er Zhang as “Milva”:
Zhang joins the cast as a pivotal and crucial legacy character from the franchise as Milva. Milva is a human who was later adopted by the Dryads residing in Brokilon Forest. Netflix describes her as “a fierce and talented huntress.” Milva utilizes “exact archery skills coupled with a stone-cold aptitude for survival.”
It will be interesting to see if any of the main characters will cross paths with Milva throughout Season 3. Zhang had a breakout performance in last year’s hit Marvel film Shang-Chi, so her casting here is big news for the Netflix show.
- Hugh Skinner as “Prince Radovid”:
Prince Radovid of Redania is a name that will be familiar to longtime fans of the franchise. In the books and games, he’s the son of King Vizimir II, who was introduced in Season 2 of the television series. However, for The Netflix show, Radovid has been rewritten as King Vizmir II’s younger brother rather than his son. It appears for the storytelling purposes of the show, King Vizmir II has been de-aged, so it wouldn’t make sense for an actor such as Hugh Skinner to be Vizimir’s son. How well this is executed and plays out remains to be seen.
Netflix describes Prince Radovid as a “royal playboy” who “finds himself suddenly a man on the inside of the Redanian Intelligence. With his good looks and often drunken charm, Radovid surprises with how incisive he can be in matters of politics, but it’s all games until someone gets hurt.”
- Christelle Elwin as “Mistle”:
Last but not least for new Season 3 cast members is Christelle Elwin as Mistle; yet another character taken from Sapkowski’s books. Mistle belongs to a group of thieves called The Rats. Netflix describes this group as “a gang of misfit teenagers who steal from the rich and give to themselves – and sometimes the poor.” Mistle’s character profile describes her as “street hard, suspicious of everyone and out for revenge.” During Season 3, Mistle will experience “a chance meeting” that “will change everything” for her.
Also, back for Season 3 are series returning cast members Joey Batey (Jaskier), MyAnna Buring (Tissaia de Vries), Tom Canton (Filavandrel), Jeremy Crawford (Yarpen), Eamon Farren (Cahir), Mahesh Jadu (Vilgefortz), Terence Maynard (Artorius), Lars Mikkelsen (Stregobor), Mimî M Khayisa (Fringilla Vigo), Royce Pierreson (Istredd), Wilson Mbomio (Dara), Anna Shaffer (Triss Merigold), Therica Wilson-Read (Sabrina Glevissig), Cassie Clare (Philippa Eilhart), Mecia Simson (Francesca Findabair), Graham McTavish (Sigismund Dijkstra), Bart Edwards (Emhyr var Emreis), Simon Callow (Codringher), Liz Carr (Fenn), Ed Birch (King Vizimir II), and Kaine Zajaz (Gage).

2021 was a major year for The Witcher franchise. After an extended delay as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Season 2 of the smash-hit series debuted on Netflix last December. The first animated spinoff feature, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, set before the events of the series, also debuted earlier in August. Hopefully, the wait for Season 3 will not be as long as the one for Season 2, which was delayed due to the pandemic.
The Witcher Season 3 is currently in production for Netflix and does not yet have an official launch date.
