So this is a 7″ scaled dragon version of The Joker based on the Dark Knights: Metal comic book. It features a bendable tail, a movable jaw, and a clear base. It also comes with a collectible art card with figure photography on the front and a character bio on the back. It’s also currently available at most retailers for $29.99, including Target, Amazon, GameStop, and Entertainment Earth.

Per the official bio of The Joker Dragon from McFarlane Toys, this creature is a beast of the Dark Multiverse of unknown origin. However, they follow the bidding of The Batman Who Laughs when they appear. Also, when Earth-O was invaded, the Bat-God called Barbatos summoned The Joker Dragons to help his Dark Knights destroy Earth-0. Batman and his alies were ultimately able to feat the forces of Barbatos, The Dark Knights, and the Joker Dragons. These Joker Dragons act as powerful mounts to an army of darkness that could threaten the entire DC Multiverse.

The Best Vehicle Category for the Toy of the Year Awards considers toy cars, trucks, trains, and other vehicles in all scales, including R/C vehicles. But since this Joker Dragon can have figures mount it (as pictured above), it can also act as a ride-on vehicle, hence the nomination.

The Toy Foundation decides the nominees based on a panel of judges who factored in the design, quality, originality, creativity, and play value of all the selected products. The Toy of the Year Awards features 19 different categories over a multitude of different products. The final winners will be determined by votes from Toy Association winners, media members, retailers, and consumers.

Consumers and fans who are interested in voting on the awards can visit the Toy Awards’ website. The current voting window will close Sept. 2 at midnight. The Toy Foundation will later announce the award winners at the official TOTY Awards 2022 ceremony on Sept. 20 in Dallas, Texas.

Todd McFarlane’s McFarlane Toys brand has not avoided pursuing some really deep cuts from the DC Universe for its DC Multiverse collection and line of figures, not to mention some deluxe-sized offerings. This is a really unique realization of The Joker from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s Dark Knights: Metal comic series. It makes even more sense though considering Cappullo’s longstanding association with Todd McFarlane and Spawn, as Capullo was a longtime artist for Todd McFarlane’s Spawn comic series.

Additionally, McFarlane and Capullo are actually collaborating together again for the upcoming Spawn/Batman crossover. The one-shot comic release arrives this December.
