Willow: See Warwick Davis In The Magical New Trailer

Check out the first trailer for Willow coming to Disney+!

The latest Disney’s Willow sequel series trailer was released at D23 Expo. A sequel to Ron Howard’s 1988 film of the same name, the series was created by Jonathan Kasdan, with some episodes directed by Stephen Woolfenden.

It was announced at D23 that Christian Slater has joined the cast of the show, though details of his character remain currently undisclosed. However, the trailer gives a first look at not only Warwick Davis reprising his role from the 1988 film, but Joanne Whalley returning as Sorsha, one of the main characters of Howard’s film. Val Kilmer, who played Madmartigan in the original film, will not return, but the showrunners have teased that his character will still be involved in some capacity.

Alongside Davis, Slater, and Whalley, Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Kevin Pollak, Amer Chadha-Patel, Dempsey Byrk and Ralph Ineson will be a part of the cast. Its plot synopsis reads ” An unlikely group of heroes sets off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.”

Development on the Willow series was tough for Lucasfilm, as the show lost two of its main directors before Woolfenden boarded the series. Jon M. Chu was initially signed on as director, but left due to COVID-19-related production delays and to spend more time with his family before In the Heights was released. He was then replaced by Jonathan Entwistle, who also left when there were more production delays. Ultimately, Woolfenden joined to direct the first two episodes of the show, though it’s unclear who else took part in the making of the series, and how many episodes it will contain.

However, the trailer is certainly very exciting, and made me look forward to the show very much (when my interest for it was pretty much non-existent). You can watch it below and stream the series on November 30th on Disney+:
