The story of The Quintessential Quintuplets follows high school student Futaro Uesugi who led a difficult life despite being academically gifted. His father had amassed a huge amount of debt and when the rich Nakano family transferred to his school, Futaro was given the highly-paid opportunity to be hired as a tutor. However, Futaro discovers that his five charges are identical quintuplet sisters, each with their unique personality, abysmal grades, and no interest in studying. Futaro develops a special relationship with each sister throughout the series, and it is revealed that he eventually marries one of the sisters, but the question remains as to which one.
