Spider-Man: Maximum Venom will begin at 9:00 PM (EST/PST) on DisneyXD and on DisneyNow.
The third season of the animated series promises to drastically alter the status quo. Spider-Man seasons one and two ran for 25 and 26 episodes respectively, with each episode running for approximately 23 minutes each.
Maximum Venom is reinventing the wheel for this series, ditching the old seasonal structuring entirely. This season will consist of six episodes that will each run for an hour. If you’re feeling a very bizarre sense of deja vu, you’re not alone.

Maximum Venom Takes A Page Out Of The Disney+ Playbook
This season’s structure is the exact same one that is being utilized in all of the upcoming Disney+ MCU TV series including Falcon and The WInter Soldier, Loki, and WandaVision.
Reformatting this series to mirror the MCU’s new era of TV is a rather clever move by Disney, as it presents fans with an opportunity to experience this new style in a low profile cartoon before it’s utilized in the immensely popular Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While that alone has me invested in Maximum Venom, it’s not the only reason to anticipate this season’s release. Venom’s been integral to the series since early season one, and it’s exciting to see him finally get some extended time in the spotlight. This marks the first time Venom has headlined his own animated series, even if it’s more of a co-headlining situation.
The decision to air it on DisneyXD and DisneyNow simultaneously shows Disney’s intent to brand Maximum Venom as a kids show, which might prove detrimental to the quality of the season.
DisneyNow is a “TV anywhere” app that allows users to watch content from Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior by signing in with a TV provider, and it is aggressively child-oriented. That’s by no means a bad thing, it just means that newcomers shouldn’t expect this series to have the bite they might hope for in a Venom series.
The current COVID-19 health epidemic has made Disney’s direct to consumer services that much more essential to the company, so it should come as no surprise that the company wants to increase DisneyNow viewership. The app is far less successful than its cousin, Disney+. Strangely, Disney+ features both seasons of Spider-Man while DisneyNow only features a small handful of episodes.
Maximum Venom will feature guest appearances from Marvel icons such as Captain Marvel, Starlord, Groot, and Dr. Strange. Additional guests include Ironheart, symbiotes Scream, Scorn and Mania, as well as Mary Jane Watson who will be making her debut in the series. The first episode, Web Of Venom will air at 9:00 PM (EST/PST) on DisneyXD and on DisneyNow.
