JANE, perhaps our leading lady, is a biracial girl with effortless beauty. She’s on the cutting edge of fashion and has the world at her feet, but doesn’t have a big head about it. Anyone else getting ‘Serena with melanin’ vibes?
KAREN, on the other hand, has more refined taste. She’s a perfectionist who rips into her own flaws, which has her poised to be everyone’s favorite. With no limitation to her race, there’s no telling what physical attributes she may possess.
Then we’ve got DIANE, a Black freshman who’s new to Constance Billard and has no interest in its upper-class world. She’s her own woman, and she’s got her own fashion sense that I’m sure we’ll all be copying soon enough.
Further proving Gossip Girl‘s commitment to diversity this time around, there’s SUSAN. She’s a transgender girl who recently emigrated from Asia alone. She commands attention, and her opinions are sure to carry weight.
Gossip Girl is nothing without a good villain, so along comes the psychotic FRAN to fill that void. She’s the puppy-kicking type with no filter and a lot of rage. Perhaps she’ll take the Georgina role to greater heights than previously imagined?
