Wally West has been Kid Flash, The Flash, both alive and dead, and now… Dr. Manhattan?

Since DC’s 2016’s major shake-up, Rebirth, the DC Comics Universe has had its focus two major worlds: the Dark Universe (first shown in the Dark Nights event series) and the Watchmen Universe (from Rebirth & Doomsday Clock). DC is continuing with this trend with an anticipated meeting coming up in the epilogue to the 6-issue Flash Forward mini-series, titled Generation Zero.

Generation Zero will be a Free Comic Book Day exclusive tie-in book that reveals Wally West’s fate post-Flash Forward. Flash Forward has seen Wally West’s Flash being recruited by the cosmic being Tempus Fuginaut to help prevent the future spread of the Dark Universe. In his quest to purge the worlds of this Dark antimatter, Wally stumbled-upon a version of his children that were still alive. Not only that, but he also found the Morbius Chair and upon touching it learned that he was the cause of this dark world.

Wally West and the Doomsday Clock

On the other side of the DC Universe, the other heroes have been affected by the events of Doomsday Clock. The events of which showed The Watchmen characters crossing over and interacting with those within the DC Universe. At the end of the series, Dr. Manhattan was inspired by Superman to see the hope in the world so he transferred his powers into the child of Marionette and Mime adopting the name Clark in homage.

Generation Zero will see Wally West’s Flash, whom is already canonically the fastest character in the DC Universe, adopt even more power as he pulls in the near limitless powers of Dr. Manhattan as he takes his place on the Morbius Chair. There is much to be seen regarding how this will happen and what impact it will have on the DC Universe. We can only hope to learn more about the long term effects of this as they unfold, but one can expect this to have long-term consequences within the DC Universe.
