Previously Unannounced Spider-Man Tie-In Gets October 2021 Release Date From Sony

As part of the web Sony has been weaving, a previously unannounced Spider-Man tie-in film is getting an October 2021 release date.

Sony has been aligning plans to build their own little corner of the Marvel Universe centered on Spider-Man, everyone’s favorite wall crawler, for a while now. It seems that those plans are going to continue, with an upcoming feature slated to hit theaters on October 8, 2021.

Whatever this film is, it will join the likes of 2020’s Morbius and Venom 2 as Sony-produced features which are seemingly operating in ways that are at the very least MCU-adjacent.

Sony has been working very hard and fast to create a universe of their own that can play off the success of the MCU. This started with Spider-Man: Homecoming and its sequel, Far From Home. After the success of the first film, Sony tried to add on without Marvel Studios in Venom, which was highly successful.

Since then, Morbius and Venom 2 have been chugging along in production, Spider-Man 3 was green lit, and rumors of Madame Webb, Kraven, Silver Sable, and Black Cat have been swirling. One of these appears to have also been fast-tracked, due to the new Marvel/Sony agreement, which should allow Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to operate in both universes. In fact, entertainment insider DanielRPK is suggesting Spider Woman is in the works, which we’ll delve into soon.

It is unclear as to how the MCU and SUMC will interact with one another, but we can only hope that both Marvel and Sony play nice. Since the film is coming after Spider-Man 3, I am hoping that there will be a Sinister Six movie with Vulture, Scorpion, Mysterio, Kraven, Morbius, and Chameleon! Make it a villain centered movie with a heavy does of Spider-Man, could be great!

Who do you hope to see pop up in this new corner of the Spiderverse?
