The Man of Steel is returning to screens on February 25th, but this isn’t the same Superman fans have come to know and love. In Superman: Red Son, this Elseworlds tale envisions what the titular hero would be like if his rocket crash landed in Soviet Russia instead of on the Kent’s farm in Smallville, Kansas.

The clip below was released earlier today, showcasing a newsreel warning Americans in the midst of the cold war what the dangers of the Soviet Union’s new Superman are, as he is clearly changing the very definition of an arms race.

Based on DC’s famed Mark Millar written Elseworlds tale from 2003, Superman: Red Son takes place in an alternate reality where the spaceship bearing the last survivor of Krypton crash lands – not in rural Kansas, but in Stalinist Russia. Can this Cold War-era Earth survive the coming of a Soviet Superman?

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, Superman: Red Son will be distributed February 25, 2020 by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Digital, and March 17 on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD.
