Carl Lumbly, most recently known for his work on Supergirl and Doctor Sleep, has recently been announced as the newest member of the cast of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Lumby previously played the father of J’onn J’onzz in Supergirl, as a reference to his role as Martian Manhunter on both Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. In addition to Supergirl, he has had many other television appearances, including This Is Us, God Friended Me, The Chi, NCIS: Los Angeles, Altered Carbon and SIX.

His most well-known appearances were on Cagney & Lacey as Det. Marcus Petrie and on Alias as CIA Agent Marcus Dixon. He has also had roles in various feature films such as Men of Honor and the aforementioned Doctor Sleep.
Who Will Carl Lumbly Play?
His role in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has not yet been confirmed. However, it has been heavily rumored that he will be playing Isaiah Bradley, who was an alternate version of Captain America in the comics.
A report from /Film seems to solidify this rumor, as their sources claim the show will deal with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson initially declining the mantle of Captain America, “but ultimately changing his mind after discovering the secret history of the super-soldier program by encountering Bradley, who was actually the “original” Captain America.“ They go to say that they are unsure if Lumby will actually play Bradley, but are confident the character will be in the show.
The concept of Wilson not wanting to initially take up the shield has been speculated by fans ever since the show was announced. It will definitely be interesting to see how things pan out with the potential inclusion of Isaiah Bradley as another version of Captain America and where Sebastian Stan’s character Bucky Barnes fits into the mix
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes. Both characters have a long history with the MCU, originating from the first two Phases. Also reprising their roles are Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter and Daniel Brühl as Baron Zemo. Additionally, Wyatt Russell has been cast as John Walker as US Agent, with Adepero Oduye, Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, and Noah Mills being cast as undisclosed roles.
There’s no official trailer or synopsis out for the show yet, but you can watch a compilation of upcoming Disney+ MCU shows here.
