During The Game Awards, the Smash Bros community was treated with one final reveal of the year. During the trailer as the antagonist of the game, Galeem gets ready to wipe out the roster Smash roster once again, however, he is sliced in half and killed on impact as the smash characters, especially Cloud, are shocked by the presence of the One-Winged Angel himself: Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7
That’s right, after October’s reveal of Steve from Minecraft that threw the Smash community into a frenzy, Sephiroth has officially descended into Smash as his reveal trailer shows him demolishing Bayonetta and Gruninja but also KILLING MARIO – Psyche, he spares Mario from meeting the same fate Arieth in Final Fantasy 7.
Of course, the trailer could not end without the classic altercation between the One-Winged Angel and the former SOLDIER Cloud as they picked up where they left off in every game/movie they fought in: Final Fantasy 7, 7 Remake, Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts 2.
From what the gameplay footage in the trailer shows, it looks like Sephiroth will be getting his own stage. On top of that, he has the ability to parry other player’s moves and is bringing his own set of Materia abilities from his game to his moveset.
Also, he has the ability to go into One-Winged Angel mode which likely or not is triggered by charging up his limit gauge, the same way Cloud’s abilities increase in attack during matches.
