Lana’s historic nine-week consecutive table bump spot may be because she is being punished by WWE because of her husband.
Lana has been in the WWE for a long time now, but she had been stuck on the sideline as she supported her husband, Rusev. In the times where Lana had taken a more prominent role it was to start a feud for her husband and someone else. The most recent example was the awful Rusev, Lana, and Bobby Lashley love triangle angle.

However, in April Rusev was released from WWE due to the budget cuts related to COVID. In September Rusev, now known as Miro, made his appearance in AEW. He had some not kind words for his time in WWE and Vince.
Lana Taking Beating As Punishment?
The speculation is that Lana started to be put through tables by Nia Jax because of Miro going to AEW and his remarks. Lana getting beat up week after week created an underdog story and ended with her being the sole survivor in the Women’s Survivor Series match. The angle came to an abrupt stop as of this week when she was pulled from TLC due to a kayfabe injury.
Miro has stated that he thinks the table bumps were punishment from Vince and WWE for Miro jumping to AEW and his comments.
The wrestler was asked by the New York Post if she thought she was being punished by WWE and what she thought of her most recent storyline.
“It’s insane because I think people are finally seeing what I’m made of,” Lana said Monday. “For so long being in stories where I am an enhancement to the main the characters, main character, no problem I love doing that. Not everyone can be Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio. That’s just the reality.
I approach everything in WWE as I do the world of acting. It’s a compelling story and not everyone can be the leading man and the leading lady. It’s a hard pill for people to swallow but this is show business and this is television.”
Lana’s Move To The Forefront
Lana has been off to the side for a long time. A background character would diminish her work and how important she was to her husband’s character and storylines. She was important to the Rusev character, but he was definitely in the forefront. Lana was the mouthpiece for a long time for Rusev and he would not have been as successful without her.

However, Lana has been putting in a lot of work training with Natalya. Whether she’s losing or being put through a table, she’s being used in main events and prominent storylines. Jax doesn’t lose often so Lana losing to her doesn’t slow down her momentum and Lana winning adds to her momentum.
“For me to be having storyline where I’m competing in the ring, fighting that is something I’m very, very grateful for,” Lana said. “There have been a lot of up and downs in this story that have been hard pills to swallow, but I’ve been here for seven years and I’ve survived this business, all the steamrolls and all the different crazy curveballs that they have thrown here [WWE] and I think a lot of people, even the people that I work with, like they don’t even know things that I’ve done and I’m like maybe you should watch the show. Maybe have a little bit more respect for me and watch the show. And I know that’s where I can be a little sassy, but it’s like no I’m going to make a name of myself here.”
Winning A Main Event PPV Match Is Punishment?
To think that being put in major storylines is some kind of punishment is silly. Lana is not being punished and to think that Vince cares what Miro says is just as silly. Vince doesn’t even watch AEW. There is a strong possibility that Vince doesn’t even know he is in AEW. Vince and Triple H have gone on record that they don’t see AEW as a threat.
With Lana being out of the TLC match it begs the question who will take her place. The two names and most likely names are Charlotte Flair returning from injury and Mandy Rose who helped to break up the attacking Jax and Shayna Baszler. However, here is a wildcard name who just may slide in. Eva Marie has signed with WWE and this just may be the perfect opportunity to throw her back in the mix. I can definitely see her having a feud with Lana in the future. Maybe they can start that storyline at TLC.
Do you think Lana is being punished by WWE? Who do you think will take Lana’s spot at TLC? Is there a wrestler who you like to see Lana wrestle in the future? We would love to hear your thoughts so don’t be shy and leave them below.
