WWE fans could be seeing an NXT wrestler getting called up to SmackDown very soon to begin a feud with none-other than the tribal chief himself, Roman Reigns.
According to WrestleVotes, a NXT wrestler was supposed to be called up on last week’s SmackDown. This mysterious individual was set to get involved in the main event with Reigns, Jey Uso and Kevin Owens. This would seemingly align them with Owens and set up a tag team rivalry.

However, this plan was scrapped or at least postponed for an unknown reason. WrestleVotes further explained the talent is on tonight’s NXT New Year’s Evil card.
“Just heard an interesting story… NXT talent was slated to be called up to SmackDown last week, as of showtime, was written into the main event segment w/ Reigns, Uso & KO. Said talent is on tonight’s big NXT card so curious to see if it was pushed a week or scrapped altogether,” WrestleVotes reported.
Let’s Figure This NXT Talent Out
So let’s take a look at tonight’s card and see if we can figure out who it may be.
Finn Balor (c) vs. Kyle O’Reilly for the NXT Championship. This would make sense as Finn Balor was previously on the main roster. Balor was also a former Universal Champion and was the first in fact. Kyle O’Reilly has been getting a good push lately. O’Reilly is someone Owens knows from his indie days and may have a friendship he can call upon.
O’Reilly and Balor had a brutal match not long ago at a TakeOver where he broke Balor’s jaw. However, I don’t see him being called up by himself. If he gets called up it will be with the Undisputed Era. However, if one member were to be called up it would be Adam Cole [Bay Bay] shortly followed by the rest.

Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Gonzalez in a Last Woman Standing match. Both these women are really tough and imposing. They are exactly what Owens’ needs to take on Reigns and his slimy cousin, but I doubt it. WWE just isn’t ready to get into intergender matches again apart from a Royal Rumble match.
How about Santos Escobar (c) vs. Gran Metalik for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship? I would say this is a big no. Reigns would tear through a cruiserweight like a hot knife through butter.
The End Is Here For Reigns?
Karrion Kross vs. Damian Priest is the most likely call up in my opinion. Priest has been around for a long time and is ready for the main roster. He is big and imposing, but most importantly could go toe-to-toe with Reigns.
However, who I would most like to see get called up is Kross. When I first saw that a NXT talent was supposed to get called up to face Reigns my first thought was Kross. He is a destroyer and would give Reigns one hell of a hard time. I think he is absolutely ready for the big show. I remember watching him in Lucha Underground and seeing how good he was there. However, just to sweeten the deal a bit is his manager/girlfriend Scarlett. She can talk for him and look good doing it.
Owens and Reigns have been feuding for a while now with Owens always at the disadvantage. If Uso isn’t interfering and costing Owens the match then it’s Reigns. Owens’ needs help, but which NXT wrestler will it be to help him?
Who do you think is the wrestler who is rumored to be getting called up? Who in NXT has the best chance of beating Reigns? Who do you think in NXT is ready to be called up? Drop those beautiful comments below and let me know what you think.
