MOTU fans, assemble! The trailer for the second part of the Masters of the Universe: Revelation is here.
The first part, which contained five episodes, released through Netflix earlier this year on July 23. The series has Kevin Smith and Powerhouse Animation Studios at the helm and, during the preliminary interviews, Smith revealed that Masters of the Universe: Revelation is a direct sequel of the 1983 series, focusing on characters that had unresolved storylines. The first part of the series focused on Teela. Skeletor’s latest attack on Castle Grayskull caused the demise of not only himself, but also, He-Man. The magic source of Eternia also took a big hit, forcing Teela and the rest of the group to go on a mission to restore the magic that once powered this mysterious land.

A huge focus of the first part fell on Teela’s discovery that Prince Adam is He-Man. Adam, who had no choice but to turn into He-Man in front of Teela, perished in a battle with Skeletor. A long-time protector of Eternia and one of Prince Adam’s best friends, Teela felt betrayed that Adam never opened to her about his powers. This focus on Teela left a lot of original fans of the series feeling disappointed that He-Man had very little screen time.
Apart from the first episode, and a small fraction of the fourth and fifth, He-Man was not the central focus of Masters of the Universe. Fans felt betrayed, causing many to review-bomb the series on websites like Rotten Tomatoes. Despite all of this, critics praised the series.
CAN MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE WIN BACK THE DISAPPOINTED FANS?
Part one of Masters of the Universe: Revelation left us with a big cliffhanger. He-Man’s sacrifice did not kill Skeletor like we were led to believe, but it did leave him mortally wounded and recovering inside of Evil Lyn’s staff without letting anyone know. Once fully restored, Skeletor steals the sword of power and becomes a super-charged version of himself. Sidenote: it is such a pleasant experience to hear Mark Hamill voice Skeletor.
The trailer for the second part of Masters of the Universe picks it back up to where it left off. A change in power is in order. Skeletor has taken over Castle Grayskull while Evil Lyn is the new sorceress. While It looks like some of the characters were captured and are being tortured, hope still remains. Teela’s newfound power comes in clutch.
From the trailer, it looks like she heals Adam’s injury sustained by Skeletor at the end of the fifth episode, showing just how strong she has become. Skeletor’s motives are all but unclear. He wants to kill He-Man and take over Eternia. That is when a shocking revelation (no pun intended) is revealed. The power doesn’t only come from the sword. It needs a spark, and Adam is that spark. He is able to call on the power and become He-Man. The MOTU lore is changed forever. The playing field has been leveled and the fight is on.
THE BATTLE FOR ETERNIA RAGES ON
The trailer continues to show an action packed second half for the freshman season of MOTU: Revelations. We see He-man take center stage and battle Skeletor head-on. Citizens of Eternia have also joined the battle to reclaim their land. Let’s not forget the HUGE cliffhanger at the end of the trailer: Orko is back!
As an appreciator of part one, I can’t wait to see this one come to fruition. It is amazing to see this land and these characters shine under an updated and gorgeous look. You better believe it that The Illuminerdi is going to be covering and reviewing part two, just like we did with its predecessor.
